Auburn's 247 site claims that he is scheduled to visit this weekend.

Highly doubtful considering he is supposed to decide sometime this week and leave for school on Monday.

Yet Sapp just RT'd it. The Auburn guy is either wrong, or that's very bad news for ND and Cal.

He was scheduled, but he's gone on record as saying he was going to be making his decision in a few days and will be subsequently EEing.

Maybe Arik has made his Decision between ND and Cal but is only going with his brother to tag along on this trip. If I were in his shoes and I was going to South Bend soon or even Berkely or even if my brother was leaving for Auburn soon I would try and go with my brother to just hang and have a good time..... like a mini vacation for them both.

I guess I am confused. Unless Arik is looking to enroll next year didn't Auburn begin classes on Monday the 9th? So that would seem like EE'ing would be impossible.

Also I don't believe Armond can transfer with the SEC ruling on the "Jeremiah Masoli" rule.

Can anyone shed some light?

Confirmed on ESPN that he will be heading to Auburn on Thurs - Sat. and making his announcement Sunday in front of his church. Said he could delay the decision until Monday if need be. Cal and ND start classes on Monday, while I'm pretty sure Auburn starts classes on Tuesday. Said Armond was still trying to figure out the Pac 12 waiver situation so was only considering non Pac 12 schools at this point.

Pretty sure ND always starts class on Tuesday.

Armond CANNOT transfer to an SEC school because they banned the graduate exception.... or can he? Because he did sit out all last year right? So maybe he could play immediately as a regular transfer? So confusing.

I will say this: if USC decided to block Armond to ND, after there were reports earlier they were going to allow it, we're as good as sunk.

FWIW, Arik was ALWAYS supposed to visit Auburn this weekend and then make an announcement right after... and Armond was also supposed to visit... but those plans got stifled the very minute it appeared Armond could not transfer to Auburn and a lot of people thought Arik may not still take the visit. This development *seems* to imply that Auburn might be Armond's ultimate transfer destination as USC has chosen (afterall) not to release him to ND.

That's what everyone thinks but who knows. Transfer rules and waivers and such are far too complex for us to grasp without being on the "inside."

You can usually add classes a week after the first day of class, or atleast that's how it was at TCU. Theoretically, maybe he can begin up until then which would be the 16th or 17th.

I agree with Lax. It seems to imply Armond to Auburn. If that does happen then Arik goes to Cal.

Amazing how much a week has tchanged our view on how we would finish the class.

Not sure about that. Considering he's making the decision literally the day after visiting Auburn it could certainly play into their favor and he could end up there instead of Cal.

Well played by USC to keep these two away from teams they play if it works out. Don't know why they "approved" him to ND in the first place... in fact, I'm guessing they never did and it was a bad report.

Armond falls under the graduate transfer rule so he can transfer to any school that has a grad degree that USC doesn't have. USC cannot block him from transferring.

Arik and Amir Carlisle had a little convo last night on twitter. Amir asked Arik if he had his phone number and direct messaged it to him.

Hopefully Amir was putting in a good word for ND.

It seems pretty obvious to me. They both found out that they are going to be roomies starting next week, and they need to work out logistics. You know, who's bringing the t.v., who has the stereo, who gets top bunk, making sure they have matching towels and draperies. All that important stuff.

It was confirmed they blocked Prater from transferring to ND so why wouldn't do the same for Armond... at the same time reducing our chances of landing the young Armstead.

Am I the only one that was reminded of all the talk that surrounded Cam Newton his church and Auburn when reading this post ?

The SEC does not allow players with one year left to transfer into their conference.

Can USC even block Armond since he has his degree, he should be free to anywhere except the SEC technically due to their own rule.

Prater has not graduated from USC like Armond has. Armond is like the Dayne Crist scenario. ND couldnt block DC from transferring to any school just like USC cannot block Armond as a graduate transfer. This is also why he can play this year rather than having to sit out a year like Prater and Carlise will do

According to the first google hit I found, the rule doesn't go into effect until October 1, 2012.

Source?

My initial understanding was that the rule went into effect Oct 2011 therefore making it effective for the 2012 season. I could be wrong though.
