He's not 'staying' at USC, though, correct?

I have absolutely no info on Armond. Was supposed to have a hearing and everything is eerily quiet. Last I heard his only transfer option was ND and I don't know if that has changed. Transfer situations are always incredibly fluid and complicated until something is final.

As soon as I hear anything I will let you know.

The question is how could he not be leaving USC unless he was magically just cleared medically? And how would that make any sense for USC to do at this point beyond being a pure "keep away" move from ND? Only time will tell I guess but I put my money on insidetroy not having his stuff together.

So where are we on open spots? I saw an article on my Irish Sports Report app from Hansen @ SBT saying there are only three open spots right now after accounting for only 3 fifth years (Slaughter, KLM & Cave) plus Badger and Carlisle (LAX seems to think Carlisle won't count vs schollies next year).

3 seemed way too low and I am too busy to research all of this right now. I thought we were more like 5 open spots? If true, I am happy to have the Armsteads eat up 2 of those spots and shoot for (another) super stud on the remaining spot. Just worried a log jam takes us out of running for some big names still on the board.

The magic number is 25 if Carlisle's on scholarship immediately, 26 if he's not. Assuming 3 5Ys, that means we can take 22 or 23. We have 17 verbals currently, which means we can take 5 or 6 more.

Just worried a log jam takes us out of running for some big names still on the board.

Logjams are the least of worries right now.

If that's accurate, it isn't a complete stretch to feel we could land Armstead Bros., Fuller (in his top 5 maybe better), Ekanem (in top 2), Garnett (in top 3) and Wright (in top 3?). If we could get Darby (in his top 3) back that would be a bonus but it would be at the expense of one of ther aforementioned.

I would think we end up with three or four more with room to stretch if some stud wanders in last minute. Plus we have room for Cwynar and a walk-on tribute (which I always think is cool).

On the plus side, Hansen is apparently now getting his recruiting information from Wiltfong instead of Lemming (though I doubt Steve is at fault for Hansen's miscalculation). Huge upgrade there.

I would be perfectly signing What we have now + Yuri, Ken Ekanem, and a lesser WR. What people need to realize is that Amir Carlisle is like getting a high 4 recruit.

I'm going to attempt to take a break until NSD. I spend way to much time on here + I have midterms all next week. I feel like I'm trying to Quit Smoking lol. Wish me luck.

I'm finding myself confused with all of this. We had 4 spots, then Darby and Decker de-committed, making it 6. Shumate and Kiel bring it back to 4. The Armstead bros make it 2 if they pick ND (the decision has been postponed again. They have until the 24th at the very latest). Or it could be 3 if Armond's transfer means Cwynar doesn't get his 5th year (not sure how that would be perceived in the locker room, but I digress.) I'm not sure I understand why Carlisle doesn't count yet. Also looks like Yuri is announcing in about ten days. Personally, I'm desperately hoping BK makes a trip to see Shaq and Bryce and bring that whole CalGang to ND (BangBang).

Am I following this correctly?

Yes. All those numbers are correct, and they assume Carlisle on scholarship.

correct and i saw someone post something somewhere about Cwynar is scheduled to complete his mba this spring...wouldn't this not allow him back as he would be complete w/ graduate studies???

AFAIK, the NCAA doesn't care how many degrees you complete while you're on scholarship. The only rule that applies here is "5 years to play 4". Cwynar still has another year of eligibility left, so he could come back for a 3rd degree if the staff offers him.
