Opinions:
). This is a tremendous talent and we will sorely miss that athleticism and speed, both at corner and KO returning. All of us should at least acknowledge that much;
). Ronald received a HUGE amount of "love" from this board, both for his skills and his personality. We should not forget how we thought about him, AND NEITHER SHOULD HE;
). everything about him off the field has been indicative of a young person very high on life and spontaneously having fun --- but quite young --- nothing wrong with that other than older people expecting older thoughts and behaviors out of him;
).he has led a bit of a charmed life. Lots of being "first". It's just vaguely possible that he came to the impression that Tee Shepard was going to be "first" CB here, and that stole some of the enthusiasm. That's really too bad if it did, as there is room on every football field for two great corners;
). impressionable people can be manipulated, consciously or unconsciously, by environments with contrary "messaging" and no good present counter-balance --- alone at an AA game is unfortunately a perfect fouling ground for such a thing; I do not view such a happening as some conspiracy, but rather as a too-familiar resultant of a young man with a lot of counter-messaging peers;
). while Ronald may be off now, he could well come back if his parents are truly supportive of Notre Dame and all we represent within and beyond football. The IE board should begin reestablishing sanity and civilized commentary, and get out of the way of a process that they can only affect negatively if at all;
). should Ronald stay away, the Sun will rise not only on NSD, but on summer camp practices, and the Notre Dame football program will keep on in its progress towards a BCS game in the foreseeable future. We are not exactly devoid of talent in the defensive backfield, as we stand, and Lynch, Tuitt, Nix et al are going to make life a lot easier on anyone we put back there.
