Not all these services who have him ranked so highly can be wrong. He had an OK day, not a great one. Made a mistake or 2. Name me one CB who hasn't. Not gonna give up on him for that. I still want him to be Irish.

I was under the impression it was kind of an unspoken understanding that there is 95% chance Yuri ends up a safety at the next level. With his size, length, and athleticism, I think he would make one helluva badass free safety. I mean realistically he is going to end up 6'2 and likely over 200 lbs. His frame can easily carry another 20 lbs. That would be one gigantic corner.

I watched the game and felt Yuri was beating a couple of times. I also felt he had trouble with reading the WR 1st moves and was always "reacting" afterwards. However, I still like this kid and hopes he ends up Irish.

I also understand these kids have all worked together for a very short period of time for these All Star games. Also, as a previous post said, I find it hard to believe all of the recruiting services would have him rated this high IF he wasn't the real deal.

With that size and speed, why not keep him at corner? That way he can lock down even the taller WRs.

I just watched a top ten play of DGB hauling in his big TD on Wright. It's not like he wasn't with Dorial on that play. They were both shoving off each other before the ball got there and unfortunately Dorial won.

I was actually kinda impressed that Yuri just about got a hand on the thing. I'm def a fan of his length.

That's nice. Maybe don't post this in his thread though...

Have you seen how skinny he is at 190? This kid could easily be 6'2 210 lbs by his sophomore year and thats just assuming he doesnt get any taller. That screams free safety to me, and like you side with his size and speed, he would make one hell of a free safety. Tee is also 6'1 and Josh A and Jalen Brown are tall corners too. Aside from Prosise, all the other safety prospects we have project much better at SS, so Yuri to FS would make sense to me. CB is not going to be an issue in another year or two. Plus just about every scouting report I have read on Yuri projects him as a safety at the next level. The only reason Im bringing this up is the harping on his apparent lack of cover skills at the AA game, although overstated and definitely something he will improve upon...he's very early in his development still.

I think that his performance thru his high school career that got him his ranking far out weighs how he did in one game. I'd like to see him in Blue & Gold

How these kids do in these games does not translate to how they will be in college. Yuri will be fine when he is coached by Coach Cooks at ND (hopefully) :pepper:

he's obviously a big time recruit...fact of the matter is that he's going to need some work on the field and just as importantly in the weight room.

i think the wide receiver talent was the best at the army game than it was at any of the other all star games too top to bottom.

like it's been said...don't base a kid off one game. way too early to give up on a kid. DGB is physically comparable to an NFL receiver and nearly impossible for any high school kid to match up with. just hope he ends up at mizzou so we don't have to deal with him at Oklahoma for the next two years.

let wooly's boy maty mauk throw to him.

I have said this before, Corner is the most difficult position on the field. If he has the size, speed, and hips then he can be coached on technique. I would love to have him at ND.

I guess our standards for CBs are so high now, that some of you don't want Yuri?

I'm confused as to how anyone can judge a player based on one all-star game...

That would be like saying LeBron's no good cause he only scored 8 points in an all-star game..

I want Yuri badly.

Are we seriously debating whether or not it would be wise to take Wright?

I think I need to write another Where Is The Sanity? thread...

Green-Beckham dropped a couple passes where he had guys beat. One of them would've been a touchdown where he beat Wright inside with ease. Another receiver broke away from Wright and got separation across the middle, though I can't remember who at the moment. Yuri also whiffed on a tackle of Yeldon early in the game. He had a rough day.

Did you see the whole game? LOTS of All-Americans whiffed on tackles of Yeldon throughout the game.

I think we all will be very happy if he comes to ND to join his teamamte.

Obviously the kid struggled in the all star game. From my perspective I noticed Gary Gray out there...a very good tackler, but poor coverage skills. The difference is that Yuri is a senior in high school and is extremely raw still. You cannot coach size and speed. He will be a project, but an extremely fun project for our coaching staff.

It seems like people are judging him like he will be expected to start next season...rarely do freshmen start. He won't start, and he probably won't contribute for a while. But he will impact the Irish (if he comes) by adding competition to a position that is quickly becoming one of the deepest on this team. If he isn't good enough to start, that means we have someone better. If he is good enough, then we are very lucky! I'll take a 5/4 star corner any day because that means he has very good potential and can impact this teams future. You don't recruit kids to play today, you recruit for the future.

Wright indicated he was still taking the trip to Michigan last night.

This thread certainly gives me a headache. Other than a few of my old friends, I don't think anyone (even those that watched the A AA game) even know who Yuri is. Now who on this thread even knows how to judge and evaluate tallent, by position for a college level defensive backfield?

I'm awful at judging tallent, but talent, I'm usually pretty good with ;)

I'm hoping Shumate is all over him, I'd love to see another top NJ recruit in a gold helmet.
