Second this. Everyone has rough days and you never know what happened before the game. Maybe UM pulled his offer before and he was very upset (it is his childhood fave team). A lot for a 17/18 year old kid to think about these days.

He may have lost some confidence along the way guarding a guy like DGB also.

Its pretty crazy to judge a kid's talent after one high school all star game. His regular season has been over for a while and I'm sure its hard getting back into it for a week for one game. I would love for Yuri to be Irish!

Not hating on the kid, but the fact that he struggled in the US Army game isn't a surprise. People who watched him play will tell you he didn't have a great season. At this point he's a project so he really needs to be coached up.

So how much of project is he?

I just watched a top ten play of DGB hauling in his big TD on Wright. It's not like he wasn't with Dorial on that play. They were both shoving off each other before the ball got there and unfortunately Dorial won.

I was actually kinda impressed that Yuri just about got a hand on the thing. I'm def a fan of his length.

DGB beat Travis Blanks (Clemson verbal) for the 79 yard TD. Blanks appears to be a Safety and not a CB as he want to be. DGB also pushed off on the play but not interference was called.

IMO, Yuri has qualities, or potential as many have posted, that can't be "coached up". He has good size, loose hips & mental toughness (I am saying this based on his comments & what I have seen, it's my opinion). I honestly feel that in a game where the defense doesn't have to be vanilla, he will perform great. Did he looked super awesome today? No, but I would be willing to bet he has critiqued himself that way as well. I would be willing to bet he will use this game as a motivating tool to improve his game. He just seems like that type of kid to me. All speculation on my part, and I hope he ends up Irish.

He is like every other HS cornerback at this point, he has gotten by on sheer talent alone, they are taught technique but when the lights go on they are usually just more athletic than their competition in HS. He went up against the best of the best this week and I am sure he is realizing where he needs to work on his game......stop being so critical. The kid is 6'2", you can't coach that, if the staff likes him........I like him, they know more about evaluating talent than anyone on these boards, they get paid to do it for a living, we just type about it on a message board.

I have no idea how we can figure out how these kids play from watching on television. There are so many times they are on the field but not in view of the camera. I am sure all out secondary recruits will need some improvement and i am sure in the years they play for the Irish they will all get beat at times. I think we should let the staff and the kids get this sorted out. I want all the top kids at ND but there are a lot of good players so I am not sure one or two are the determination of a class and how do you know what two would be? I also think us adults should let the kids tweet what they want. It is about their peers more than ours for sure. We need to leave our recruits alone and let our staff handle the process unless you know the individual and are close to them, That can not be that common of an occurrence.
