As we are approaching the time for Kelly to make his decisions on 5th year candidates, I am hoping that we find room for Sean Cwynar. I know that guys like Slaughter and Cave are locks, but Cwynar is a really solid DL. I went back and watched alot of the Champs Bowl again today. After a few days, it is much easier to make non-emotional evaluations.
On defense, Cwynar really stood out. He is a very active DL, who pursues the ball very well. He is also flexible at playing either end or NT. Given that he finally is healthy enough to lift this off-season, I would expect him to be SOLID next year. By having him on board, you can let a freshman like Sheldon Day red-shirt.
Even with the fact we have Lynch, Tuitt and Nix, it is really really important to have DL depth in todays college football. Think about the fact we lost both Ethan and KLM for significant portions of this season. Further, Tuitt was out ill a game or two and Lynch was limping thru several games.
Hope we find room for this kid. He is a gamer.

but has been a complete bust ever since, and Springman is a total unknown. If the staff lets Cwynar go, I'd guess that means they expect Stockton or Springman to be a serious contributor next year, or that they expect Tuitt to see a lot of time at NT.
