Between Mark Richt and Jeff Tedford, I still don't know how they are coaching with the way their seats remain hot year in and year out.

Both pretty much restored dead/dying programs.

Considering Cal has produced more NFL talent than us over the last decade or so, I wouldn't really be talking.

Hardly think that's a big deal when Cal has 32 people in the league and ND has 29.....

The most important thing to Arik appears his ability to be a dual sport athlete and his fit with both the basketball/football programs. The surrounding town, distance from home, weather, academics, etc. all appear very secondary to him right now. We should likely know within the next 14 days where he is headed.

One thing that definitely didn't make me feel good about our chances, somebody asked him about him rating his ND trip a 10, he replied to that by saying "i give all my trips a 10 rating".

Agreed.
Armstead said he wants his college to be in a nice town. You can see from Google Earth what a cesspool South Bend is. Him and Thompson will both announce to Cal IMO.

Have you ever been on campus?

Glad to hear this for Arik's sake. Love kids taking care of academic business, regardless of where they eventually attend college.

Exactly. Notre Dame may technically be in South Bend. But they are NOT the same place.

Exactly. The University of Notre Dame is probably one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. You get off campus onto St Rt. 31, it's not so much. Roseland looks like a war zone at times and downtown Southbend is only slightly better.

Armstead can transfer to another Division I school without having to sit out a year because he graduated in December. He has a hearing with USC on Jan. 9 to gain clearance to speak with some other schools he is considering.

i have a very hard time believing lane and company would give him clearance to talk to ND.

possibilities:
1.we pass on KLM for a 5th and add armond to get Arik
2. They both go to auburn.
I think the second scenario is much more likely, but don't know how Arik fits in with auburn basketball

Great news hearing that ND and auburn are the only 2 schools armond is considering that are on Arik's list..

Armstead hopes to resolve the situation before Jan. 18, the deadline to pull himself out of the upcoming NFL draft. Entering the draft remains a possibility; the NFL rated Armstead as a second- or third-round selection after his junior year.

sounds like we have a legitimate shot at Arik, especially knowing he values the basketball program just as much as the football program...

Adding Arik would surpass easing the loss of Decker and be and upgrade. Ya that's right I'm saying Decker is gone and we get the Armstead brothers now!

Reallllllllllllllllllllly doubt SC will allow Armond to talk to us or transfer here, which probably means you're looking at Auburn as chief competition now for Arik.

FYI, go read this article on how schools can still restrain kids who have graduated if they're dicks. However.... with the fact that Armond sat out most (all?) of this year and is not medically cleared.... he might be exempt from this rule. I don't know though.

if USC let's armond talk to ND...i have a great feeling the armstead brother's will be IRISH! Arik stated that the bball program is just as important as football, on his live chat 2 nights ago he basically said that ND and Cal are the 2 teams that he's looking at most (because of both programs) Cal is not one of the teams that are interested in Armond, and Arik has stated that he would love to play with his brother, i would think that if Cal was interested in Armond and cleared him to play that Arik would be all CAl RIGHT NOW, so basically IMO this is a 3 horse race...CAl,ND,Auburn. with that being said , ND fans have to be excited that ND is the only school that meets All of Arik's requirements, football , basketball and brother wise. this is gonna get really interesting over the next 2 weeks.

auburn may meet all requirements too, but i still like our chances if Armond is cleared to talk to ND
