Note about these observations- the teams are just sort of going through drills at half speed.
I did get a good look at Notre Dame commit Romeo Okwara- it's easy to see the upside there in terms of frame- long arms and looked quick coming out of his stance in drills.

In that order or no order?

In order according to Shurburtt. Also said Harrell really struggled but he was playing tackle against Bullard and Watkins which he will not play at ND.

Also this from Rivals:

“@KeithRIVALS: At Shrine Bowl practice this a.m., liked what little I saw of #NotreDame DE commit Romeo Okwara. Definitely is quick. Very raw, though”

Shurburtt:

Watching Mark Harrell closely in drills. I think he's just being cautious and going 1/2 speed like these drills are designed to do. Will need to get a look at him in the game. He's got good potential though- he squares up his blocks and has good technique.

His physical upside is mind-boggling.

If only he projected as an OLB! The kid could squat 600 lbs at 15-years-old. He's destined to grow into a monster DL.

Love that he really worked to improve his run stopping. Shows growth and football savy/IQ. Like Domina Nostra said, this kid is going to be a handful.

The Furious Forklift.

He and Tuitt line up on one side. The opponents end up rolled into a pile seven yards deep. Lynch reaches in and plucks out the quarterback.

It's amazing how many freak large athletes this staff is getting.

Niklas, Tuitt, Lynch, Councell, Okwara, Jones

Am I the only one who wants to see this kid in as a Running Back on short yardage/goal line situations? His thighs remind me of Earl Campbell. I think it would be tough for any LB to stand him up.

I'm actually not joking when I say that Big Lou has the feet to be a gap blaster on the goalline Refrigerator Perry style. But if Romeo could do it, OK; I'd just like to see the package with one of our monsters.

He's not going to be an immediate impact player but his upside is as good as anybody, the kid is a specimen who's going to have a very bright future.

I think he's best suited to be a 4-3 rather than 3-4 OLB or 3-4 DE.

We've been able to say this about a lot of commits the last two years. Great depth being built! I haven't followed the program for that long, but I'd guess it's been a while since unprepared freshman could sit out a year then be ready to contribute when they received the opportunity.

Its a risk to play anyone that large as an RB because he'll just get his knees chopped at. I'd rather have him blowing up inside runs and getting doubled than on the sideline with 3 tds on the year and a blown meniscus.

^ this. Dude is too tall. We do need some help punching it in at the goal line though.

...

That's not a bad thing considering he's 16. He started his senior HS season as a 15 year old.
