So apparently Arik's father drove down to LA today to meet with Kiffin and Kevin O'Neill personally.

247 said they will provide an update once they hear back from Gus.

Day after his father visited with Kiffin he changed his unofficial visit to Cal this weekend to an official visit.

USC 247 guy says Cal is the clear team to beat while Auburn is a school that still intrigues him and is likely to visit.

ND is definite factor but this:

@arikarmstead: "Official to cal this weekend w/ the homies @BeastThompson @IshmaelLAdams @BryceTreggs"

is not going to help.

I should add that as his HS coach pushes him STRONGLY to stick around and not leave early to play basketball this year and the basketball coaches from Cal/USC now get more involved the odds of him going to ND continue to fall through the floor.

Expect him to end up at Cal or USC. But we'll know more after this weekend. Talk about Auburn is a joke (unless he likes duffle bags of cash). In teh very slim chance he leaves the west coast it's for ND.

I really do not see him going back to USC. Agree with Golden, the Cal weekend with Treggs and Shaq might be the final push he needs

Mr. Meyer, I believe the site you were seeking was NDnation.

There, they believe you **** gold and **** platinum.

Here, we know Urban for the lying recruiter he has proved himself to be.

Lying to recruits isn't anywhere near the top of why Urbie is a scumbag.
But I don't wanna insult our new board member tooooo much.

Let's not pick on Mr Meyer, he is clearly an upstanding man who teaches his kids how to deal with things like drug use, domestic violence, illegal weapons and also practices what he preaches, I mean he is deeply committed to his family and shows tremendous loyalty to his employers......

No need to rip the man......his record speaks for itself.

Welcome Mr Meyer but I do agree that NDNation is a much better site for a man like you.

But we're always underachieving and don't scare anyone in football so getting on our high-horse makes us feel better ;)

I am wondering if any of those posters who are of the opinion that Armstead is most likely heading to Cal have any evidence. I am not trying to belittle anyone so please don't get all defensive. I was just wondering if anyone (writer, recruitnik, etc.) has published a quote from Armstead or his family or even has claimed an unnamed source close to Armstead to support this widely accepted claim. It is my own ignorance regarding this issue that has motivated me to ask this.

Even if a recruiting service makes that claim, without some claim of evidence, it is just a shot in the dark guess and no more reliable than a coin flip, in my opinion.

I also wonder why Armstead is apparently so gung-ho on playing on the d-line. Offensive tackles highly coveted by NFL teams and if the opinions of all the recruiting services mean anything Armstead has far more potential as an OT than he does on defense. Since Armstead is highly likely to be an NFLer, he would be inclined to play OT where he projects as an almost sure-fire 1st rounder rather than a far less certain future on the d-line.

Dude wants to stay home. If his brother doesn't get cleared in a couple weeks its Cal IMO. Unless he truly wants to play ball this year and Brey said he can play as soon as this week or next. Hes boys with Jordan Payton, Ish, Shaq all those guys. NDLA would be able answer this question better than me. Just what im hearing.

No one gets less glory, except for the ST players, than the offensive line.

Defensive line players can be STUDS around the world. See Michael Strahan, or even the crush this board has on Nix, Lynch, Tuitt.

IMO, this statement carries the most weight. Kids want to go to college with their friends. Not all of them see the bigger picture. It's baffling that Cal is recruiting this well, but at the same time, these guys are friends and just want to play together. It happens all the time.

Update on 247: Of course really enjoyed the visit. Although he has said distance is not a factor it is attractive to him that Cal is so close to home. Will be setting up an OV to Auburn and could take unofficials to Washington and Texas. He said the reports are fals that he and his brother have intentions to play together at Cal.

You have to hand it to Cal, they certainly know how to handle recruiting. Knowing that all those kids were pretty close they set the trip up so there was maximum time for them to all hang out together.

Also not encouraging that he is still looking to take more visits after he visits Auburn. The draw to ND is suppose to be immediate b-ball playing time but it is sounding more and more like it is less of a factor.

It's not that baffling since they're all from California. Let's just thank god that these 4 aren't in love with USC.

That's sort of my point...CAL is getting these guys. Not USC, not Stanford, or any other west coast power.

I think you can attribute some of this to what I call the "LeBron impact". The Wade/Bosh/James circus changed the way that many of these young guys look at playing their sport. Now, more than ever, it's not just about me, it's about me and my boys.
