The Banquet is Friday night isn't it? Couldn't he go to that tomorrow night and then leave for wherever he is going that night or early Saturday?

At least then he could meet with the other recruits/commits.

USC is incredible at recruiting. Best in the country IMO. They're under massive sanctions and are still getting the interest of whoever they want.

I'd be pretty disappointed in the staff if they can't close the deal on Keil. He's in-state, BK is personally recruiting him, starting next year every QB we have on roster is a 3-star, has family ties to ND, his receiving class at ND would be LOADED, and couldn't be a better fit for BKs spread. If you can't sell this kid to ND, I don't know who you can. Pretty sure he's Irish.

I honestly couldn't give a **** if he went to USC. They've already got like 3 top 5 QBs sitting there in the stable... he might never see the field. Or he he might and do awesome. Whatever. But the point is that he isn't going to make or break them and I'd love for them to use another scholly they don't have on a QB. Even with the two players USC just cut (one was diiiiiiiiirty.... blows out his knee and they yank the offer) they're over their 75 limit and are going to have to cut some more "undesirables."

If he went to a place like Purdue or Michigan State I would flip the f*ck out. But that doesn't look like it's going to happen (knock on wood). As long as we hold on to our current recruits and get one more BIG, one OLB, and two skill players this class is a success.

I don't know if he is Irish, but sometimes no matter what you have going for, you just lose out on recruits.

The one thing this staff has proven to be is that they will grind out recruiting and are relentless.

Missing out on a kid that just never appeared to be enamored with the place won't make me question their ability.

That's a bit of an understatement. His uncle was a 4-year starter for the Irish at QB. You don't get more "legacy" than that.

I have to admit, I'll be depressed if we don't land Kiel. Not because he's the most important prospective recruit on the board (though you could make an argument that he is), but because he absolutely should be ours for all the reasons you listed.

If ND really leads for him, why would he cut short his OV here to fly out West so those slime balls at USC can negatively recruit the hell out of us? It's not like QB is a pressing need for USC; they're obviously trying to play keep away here.

I don't get it.

So, has it been verified by 247/Rivals/Scout that he is in fact visiting USC or is this just rumors?

idk it seems like he's trying to talk himself out of going to ND. maybe he wants to check the chicks out before they start wearing pants out in cali.

Wiltfong thinks that Kiel and his dad are already very familiar with ND and just have some questions. Doesnt think a 2 day visit is necessary to seal the deal

The fatal flaw in this plan is that ND is going to get neg recruited to all hell by Kiffin & co.

He seems to want to stay home so we will see. Funny USC forums kept saying how overrated he was before this.

I'm pretty sure he'll already have formed an impression of ND, coaching staff, and players long before USC has anything bad to say about it. The ball is in BKs court and I'd be shocked if he doesn't close with Keil.

They set up the locker room with a jersey and what not for a "big recruit" coming tonight. I would have to imagine it was Gunner.

At ND? Nice to see the coaches busting their balls. I can tell you... if there is one thing I LOVE about this staff it is the passion, drive, and effort. Did not have that under Davies, Willingham or (arguably) Weis. These guys get it. Kill or be killed.

Yup I took a tour of the locker room today and they had three jerseys set up all number 12 with the different uniforms. Also had set up a typical locker with the number 12. Don't know why they chose 12 though if it was Kiel, but the tour guide thought he was visiting tonight and the only one who that would be is Gunner.
