UPDATE: he had a GREAT workout and coaches from Cal are very impressed and he is setting up a visit...ND coaches were a NO SHOW, called prior to workout and said they would be his school or practice sometime...COLD SHOULDER! im guessing since the recruiting is heating up w/ yuri,ishmael etc...could be the reason

def not cool! it actually had me really upset...because in talking to him i could tell how excited he was..even though he wasn't putting all of his eggs in one basket and he was EXTREMELY MATURE about it...i felt terrible for him...he messaged me last night when he got back and didn't say anything negative about ND..just a simple something must of came up...

I'm disappointed to see that our coaches aren't any different than the rest of them, i was hoping that wasn't the case...maybe we don't deserve marcus (who wants to be irish) and we're going after someone similar that we gotta convince to buy in.

i'm glad to hear marcus is more mature than the 40+ year old men that are recruiting.

i know this happens all the time everywhere, but it just pisses me off.

Very unfortunate news. I think everyone on this board was pulling for this kid to receive his ND offer. He still may. Never know. I do feel bad about the coaches not showing up to his workout and canceling last minute.

absolutely!!! hope great things are waiting for this kid whereever he ends up. bitterly almost in a way i hope he proves it against us just to teach our coaches a lesson...sometimes the best answer is the one standing right in front of you.

well he was hoping for an offer yesterday which he would then visit on the 19th, i know someone posted a different date but this is the exact date he told me...i highly doubt it now...being an EE, he is finishing school in 6 days...so usually these type players go to a school and not wait since they want to start for the spring semester

Come on dude...really? Way to call our coaches liars. They called and cancelled didn't they? How's that lying? They didn't promise him an offer. There are a lot of good kids playing high school football. Not all of them can play at ND. The sooner this fact is realized, the better.

put yourself in his shoes...your son comes home and says "Dad guess what, ND is coming to watch me work out after school tomorrow!!!! i might get an offer if the work out goes well!!!"

Next day...."ND cancelled an hour before my work out"

don't sit there and tell me that's bogus. it's flat out crap to treat kids like that and we're just as guilty as every program in the country unfortunately. i know all schools do it, but sometimes i wonder if a catholic school needs to educate their coaches on the "Golden Rule"

Let's just let this play out before we start knocking the staff. Maybe the staff feels great about Poole, Adams, etc. Maybe they even received a silent verbal from both Payton and Adams? Then do they really want to go after people who they don't have rated as highly? There's 10,000 kids that love ND and would love to get to come here. Doesn't mean they all get to. It seems a little cold-shoulder (for lack of better terms) right now, but we don't know the details. I'm pretty sure the staff will stay in contact with Rios and he will get an explanation.

they are running out of time...he has everything finalized at Neb should he enroll there, going to visit Cal now...it was important to him to feel wanted and he is feeling the love from Cal...unless an offer comes in the next week...he gone!

Could it be possible they ran into a clearinghouse problem while doing their do diligence on Marcus? Nothing major, but could it simply be he didn't take the required foreign language requirement, or doesn't have all the prerequisites yet to EE at ND?

I ask because all signs indicated that ND was very high on Rios' ability, even going so far as making sure to go through an expediated due diligence process to try and set up him being an EE here. I don't think you go through the trouble of all that if you have questions about his ability on the football field. He seems like a great kid with a good head on his shoulders, but a small little think like an example above could possibly explain the situation. I have no inside info on the matter, just throwing a theory out there.

part of our convo from today :Your my man MR Mutchler and what ever you need . Just so you know . ND still in pic . I am short a spanish class for there admitance . When I decided to grad early Iset it up for a school I was commited to . When we last spoke with ND we were dead set on EE na told them so . They should have came anyway but I get it . I may consider staying another semester for that lang class we will see what there thoughts on that is . The coaching changes and fireings all over have affect my plans . Mr Mutchler I never forget how blessed this process is Having the time of my life and there is no downside .... I had a coach tell me yesterday that they are secretly recurt me . Cus they have there top 3 that they working on since april . an does not want to spoke them . You see its all about right fit right time not personal just business . My dad sad me down an broke it down for me . he also told me how lucky I am tobe even considered in some of these conversations with the like of a ND . That there thous of kids that have mad skills but wrong time wrong place . Its fun sharing this stuff with you cuz isnt it amazing .

You can't get in without a foreign language. That's a pretty standard rule for ND.

It's a very busy period in recruiting.

Foreign language isn't really one you can cram into a couple weeks. Really shocked his Councillor failed him so miserably. Elk Grove Unified School District used to require a foreign language for everyone. Tango dos anos espanol a la escuala secondaria en Elk Grove.

Coach D should go punch that Councillor in the face.
