Right, because Weis' classes weren't ranked exceptionally well...... and Charlie Weis wasn't a good offensive coordinator either.....

I will give you that Mattison has a good track record and that is one big difference (on paper). But let's ND's 3-9 team actually played pretty darn solid defense. I don't want to derail Garnett's thread so I'll cut it short here, but this team is going to have some big shoes to fill on defense and the OL after the next two years and there isn't anyone currently on the roster that can fill them. This helps with recruiting because they can promise early PT, but it will hurt them on the field.

Weis didn't recruit an impressive defensive haul until his third full class (2008).

His first "monster" recruiting class in 2006 had an incredible zero defensive linemen or linebackers rated four stars or higher. Zero.

His second class had a whopping two. One 4* DE (Kerry Neal) and one 4* LB (Brian Smith).

Compared to Michigan who has about 100 already.

OSUs defense is going to handle Denard..

They handled Wisconsin's running game fairly well. Denard is a comically awful passer, so if they can keep Michigan's running game in check, they should fare pretty well, at least defensively.

See PM. My point was more about how they're going to struggle because a lack of OL cohesiveness/experience.

I think he lands in Michigan.

I hope that he ends up following through with his planned visit to ND but I doubt even that happens.

He is a smart kid looking for education and looks completely sincere about that. He will visit ND.

moved date to Dec 9 when they have awards ceremonby

I see that Davonte Neal planned on visiting on that same date so maybe some bonding can happen there and see what happens.

I see if he kept his date on the 2nd he would have been there with Decker. That may have been better for ND with another OL commit talking in his ear about a solid O-line

Gunner will be there, that could definitely help.

Garnett, Keil, Neal. Is it possible that all 3 give verbals to ND? Wow, that would be special.

throw in Rios - Poole - Odenigbo on Defense and I'm a happy camper. Add Nelson on top of all that and someone is going streaking in the quad.

If Kiel is included in this, that someone would be me...

Back from a 1-week respite. Anyway, just talked to Lemming. He tells me Gunner Kiel and Josh Garnett will make officials to ND this weekend.

I thought it was Banner. Could be wrong, though.

That's what I think too. For a second, I thought maybe it was Garnett, and that the two of them visiting together (again) could mean positive things. Who knows, still could...

Gunner and Garnett have exchanged tweets in the past so who knows how tight their relationship is.

Hopefully, they get even closer at the banquet and commit together in January.
