Some quotes from O$U fans on their 247 site:

I'm a big fan of Iffy...and I'm definitely not saying this in a negative way...but it almost sounds like he's more interested in getting a full scholarship for his education than he is to play football. Education is of course number one (behind God and family according to The Senator), but when we're looking at giving kids scholarships b/c of their athletic ability, don't we want that sport to be as important. You can excel at both.

I've been following his recruitment very closely for a while, and with some of the comments I've heard from him as well as from scouts about his play this season...just kind of seems like he's going through the motions on the football field to get a scholarship at the school of his choice. Again not a bad thing, but I'd think we'd want to bring kids to the squad who are extremely passionate about the game.

Only my thoughts. I could be WAY off on this off course.

Didnt Barkley comment on how **** poor the atmosphere and fans were during the game, usc-notreshame was far from crazy. For someone overly concerned with academics he doesnt sound like the smartest cookie

Ha...I agree. The problem I see there is that he has no idea about what a big time football atmosphere is. He's disconnected. I was at the USC-ND game and it was not a crazy atmosphere...and it was a night game! It was closer to a mediocre Buckeye game

...and the rest goes on and on and ON about how Urban Meyer will be their next coach and make sure guys like him don't leave the state.

Perceived as a possible ND lean and everyone starts spewing the hate. Classic.

No, it's not all but a done deal. There is still A LOT of things to play out, most notably the NCAA and what they're going to do to OSU. If they lay the wood to OSU or even give them a somewhat uneven playing field to work with the next few years, you better believe that Urban will think twice about coaching there. There is also his wife and children he'll be taking under consideration as well, and word is that his wife doesn't want to live in the cold again...

this is a done deal...imo. the family being under consideration is bogus. if he wanted to spend more time with the family, what's he doing on ESPN??? he will be the next Ohio St. head coach and bring his old buddy Greg Studrawa (current offensive coordinator at LSU) on board to call the offense. this will help ohio st. finish this year's recruiting off respectably and probably put a blockade up for the talent in Ohio for as long as he wants it to be.

Odenigbo is arguably the most important recruit left on our board. I know it's much easier to get excited about prospects like Kiel and Agholor, but they play positions where we're already talented and deep (counting current verbals).

From a positional perspective, Dog OLB is our top area of need. Niklas is ultimately destined for Cat OLB or DL, which leaves us with Spond and Councell at Dog. That's it.

Edit: Forgot about Okwara. We'll currently have 6 OLBs for 2012 where 8 is ideal depth, yet 4 of those 6 project as Cat OLBs (DL/ LB hybrids). So we're basically full at Cat, and dangerously thin at Dog.

Ifeadi Odenigbo is my favorite recruit for the class. He's a smart guy, athletic as hell, and from Ohio. What's not to love? :)

I doubt he goes to Ohio State though, I really doubt it.

I would be surprised if Meyer wasn't the coach at Ohio State next year. The man loves Ohio State in ways fans of other schools can only comprehend about their schools.

I doubt you've ever been to Columbus, or Ohio State, or you wouldn't be making statements like that.

he's obviously never been to the varsity club on state basketball weekend :)

let's land odenigbo...he's the type of athlete we need on the edge.

Odengibo and Agholor are 1a 1.b.

I agree that Agholor is a game-changer, but we'll currently have 10 out of an ideal 12 WRs for 2012 (11 if we take Darboh, Thomas, or Payton). We'll be short on experience, but long on depth and talent.

Not so at Dog OLB. The lack of depth and experience there makes Odenigbo a more important target in my mind.

nelson's an immediate game changer though...odenigbo would most likely be red shirted when nelson could be starting next year right off the bat.

defense is what wins championships....and as we have been exposed this season is the lack of speed on the outside of our LB play...dline is taking care of, working on the db w/ this class but he is a must get...kinda like davis was :(

Odenigbo could easily find himself in the 2012 two-deep just like Lynch, Tuitt, Ishaq, and Niklas did this year. If anything the depth at the position he'd be stepping into is scarier than DL was at the beginning of this year.

Nelson might start. More likely he'd just be in the rotation against Navy. There's no doubt that he's a huge recruit, but how important any one recruit is to us has as much to do with the depth and experience we already have at the position as it does with the quality of that specific recruit. Our needs at WR aren't anywhere near as pressing as at Dog OLB.

No one's forgotten about Councell.

We've only got two true Dog OLBs: Spond, and Councell. No other position has so little depth and experience.

My only point is that ND fans should be much more excited about the prospect of landing Odenigbo than most around here seem to be. Dog OLB is our #1 recruiting need, and as the top OLB prospect, he's arguably the most important recruit left on our board.
