I go to the great Miami University, and tonight we play scUM in a heated hockey match at home....but tonight is also the first ever basketball game on an aircraft carrier....I can't decide which to watch....any ideas? I do hate scUM with an absolute passion, and watching them lose in any sport would be a great treat.

If I were you I would watch your game against Mich., then tape the basketball game to watch afterwards. You got to support your team and they are afterall playing Michigan.

Watch something in person or watch something on tv. I am a fan of being there in person.

It's Veterans Day, dude. Go pay your respects and see the first aircraft carrier game. You will be happy you did.

I'm guessing veterans and veteran's families care about a game on an aircraft carrier being played on Veteran's Day. Just sayin'.

This thread sure has a lot of unpatriotic fools up in it.

I'd do whichever activity will have more hot chicks participating in. If it's the hockey game, go there. If it's at a bar watching hoops, go there.

There would also be nothing wrong with skipping out on both games and going to study at the library...or quilting that blankie you've been desiring for years...or going to the local senior center and watching their production of "Cats."

Hockey. Good luck to a fellow future NCHC team. We (Minnesota-Duluth) play Alaska-Achorage.

Really? Watching or not watching a basketball game isn't going to make anyone a patriot no matter what the location. Certainly, it's a nice tribute and a cool event, but that's it. Watching hockey, watching a great college rivalry, is another way to celebrate the freedom so many veterans died to give us. So is going out to the bar or staying in and going to the library or going skydiving or doing whatever else you want to do. Reflect on the sacrifices so many brave men and women have made. Look inward and ask if your life lives up to the actions of those who have come before you. Exercise your freedom which has come at such a grave cost. But in no way should watching a freaking basketball game be tied with one's love of country.

Yes really.

People get drunk and lick hockey glass every effin' day. I really don't see how doing that is honoring veterans. If you have a choice to go to a good hockey game or go to a first time event that's sole purpose is to honor veterans, don't try to feed me bs that going to the stupid hockey game is being just as patriotic. It's not.

Unless I missed something wooly, I believe the original poster indicated he would be watching the Carrier Classic ON TV. If given the choice to see either in person, you are spot on.

Now instead of patriotic, I feel idiotic.

I should have probably caught that he would be watching it on tv. That's what they made DVR for.

To make things more interesting, they should move the ship to the middle of the ocean and play on a rough current.

Lol, sorry for the tone. I hadn't slept for about 31 hours at that point. Yea, going to the game live would have been an entirely different story.
