Why power ratings are wrong about ND...

The most accurate early season power ratings (below) all
favor MSU. The first four measure win vs loss percentage
margin of victory and points scored. This shows as a
higher MoV for the Spartans.

The last two services (especially Keeper) enter other
factors such as yardage, etc. This shows a MSU win by
less than a field goal. ND has clearly played stronger
competition. Personally, I feel ND should win this
contest. Why?

1. ND scored record yardage against Michigan. 2. ND
has touchdowns called back. 3. ND set passing records
against the Wolverines. 4. ND committed 3 vs 0 turn-
overs and still went to the wire. 5. 40% of ND possess-
ion was non-productive frosh QBs. 6. Game not decided
until final play. 7. ND showed much greater potential
in #1 through #6.

Good thing the game isn't played as some arbitrary algorithm on a computer.

Between the last three seasons & the last game its definitly easier to expect a loss. If you look at what E.Pa. is saying everybody & there mother would pick ND to win this Sat.

I'm looking at what Easton is saying and that plus me watching MSU vs Western makes me pick us too. If Crist stays on the field, our offense should go increasingly nuts against them as the game progresses [by the way the opinion that my views are just an opinion until the game is played is an empirical given; however the consistent pessimism that half of the posters have is that exact same sort of undetermined opinion; I'm just trying to defend mine with information gained from this year, not previous ones, and offer such views with humility]. If Crist stays healthy our hurry-up gives MSU difficulties, as Dantoni himself said in a press conference. It's tiring mentally on a defense used to not having to constantly make such rapid fire adjustments. [by the way, the MSU roster is a lot heavier in the younger classes than ours, and that too could play a role depth-wise.] My previous comments about MSU's "vanilla" style of play have not been demeaning to that style, but meant only to indicate that if your opponent is scoring a lot, then a power game has less room for error to keep pace---and our personnel would doubtless prefer to play against less speed---several national commentators said this same thing. MSU might win. We might win. My reading of "trends" in play this season is that we do, in a war.
