RT from early this AM... (Five-star Shaq Thompson) @BeastThompson: @BGI_JasonSapp I HAD FUN IN SOUTHBEND #ND

Call me critical but I hate comments like that. It's like, I had fun at Disney but doesn't mean I'm moving there.

He doesn't seem to be a prospect that talks that much. Anyway, we sure could use him. He could start at S from day one.

Someone says they enjoyed the visit, someone who doesn't talk to the media much btw, and the board found a way to make it negative.

not surprised at all. I said it from the beginning I didn't see him coming to ND, despite what he told ND reporters. Missed out on a good one, but really, I never saw him coming here...

Honestly, I didn't expect him to come here, but it would have been amazing.

Game, set, match.

Huh? So because I did not read anything negative into "I enjoyed my visit". Those who interpret things like "I enjoyed my visit" into something negative, regardless of who says it, TOTALLY BURNED ME.

Not worth the time nor the energy to fight about. I had my opinion, you had yours, that was that.

Update on 247:

Said ND has more tradition then the other schools he visited but everything else was "kind of the same."
"Everyone has great academics, nice campuses and stuff like that."

uhh..... yeah.

Update on 247:

uhh..... yeah.

Don't blame the kid, blame coaches obfuscating what "great academics" means. Greg Schiano told Savon Huggins straight out that he would go to Rutgers over ND with no football involved because it was a better school. Looked him straight in the eye and said that. Lane Kiffin convinced Amir Carlisle that USC was #1 in business when they aren't even remotely close to that. The list goes on and on and on. When every school tells you they're the best, what's going to make you believe one over the other?

Not enough parents do their job of guiding kids to make the smart 40 year decision. There are some, like Lache Seastrunk's mom, that go the whole opposite direction and try to sell their kid to the highest bidder. Lache had to petition the NCAA to not require his mom's approval on the LOI because she was going to force him to go to the place that paid the most.

So I really don't fault Shaq at all for speaking the truth and not mincing words. He said something that the majority of recruits probably feel but don't say outloud. The Joe Schmidts of the world are very, very rare that choose a college for being a college instead of the college choosing them or picking a school for football/weather/hotties.

Whiskey, he follows you. Just happen to tweet your ROI stats...

And I would love to see this kid playing for us, but if he can't (or any other player) recognize how big of an opportunity and privilege it is to play for ND, then the two aren't meant to be.

I think ND usually does a good job selling the academics, but they obviously missed with S. Thompson.

Each of these kids should be shown ND's (1) 30 ROI, (2) school rankings, and (3) graduation rates for football players. Then they should tell the recruit that if he cares about academics (and every recruit will at least say he does), then he should get the numbers for each category for every school he is interested in.

Not every kid will come to ND, and that is fine. But the reason shouldn't be because the academics are the same, unless his other schools are Stanford and Northwestern.

Totally agree Beau....Notre Dame is a special place, and for those who don't see it, good luck to them wherever they end up. It's not for everybody, and I like that. I love cheering on Saturdays for these great young men who have chosen a more challenging route b/c they know it will benefit them over the long haul.

I just don't understand why we can't get a big time safety this year. We graduate both corners and one safety this year and have very little depth behind these guys. We have amazing young defensive linemen and the best thing for any defensive back is a strong d-line (nobody can cover a receiver if the QB has all day to throw the ball). Tee and Darby saw this and jumped on their offers. I was really hoping for either Shaq T or Byron M, but looks like we aren't gonna get either. I am happy with Baratti though and am hoping that BK is able to get one more quality safety prospect in this class.

No one burned anyone. I just think the posts came together right at the right time. Yours, the next guys and finally the nail in the coffin. Makes for great cinema.

The kid is going to be a stud probably and it sucks that he won't be playing here but good luck too him anyways. I never really thought he was ND bound.

Prosise and Baratti are very good safetys imo. If we can pull another corner Tee can move to safety as well.
