I would bet money we get him. I am pretty confident. Nothing more than a hunch though. In the rare chance we don't land him, I would say he goes to Michigan.

I doubt Michigan because of Shane Morris.
The only team I could see him going to besides ND is Alabama. Is he visiting there for the LSU game? That could be the one game-day atmosphere that beats USC vs ND this year.
I think Bama ends up with Winston and we get Gunner.
Didn't Gunner say earlier in his recruiting that he was not going to go to a school that was taking another QB in the same class. If that is still the case Alabama and Oklahoma are not options.
Gunner Kiel talks recruiting - ESPN
As always not a lot of info from Kiel. Says he won't go to a team that already has a quarterback (we're still in it!--no w'ere not), so does that rule Oklahoma out?
No mention of Notre Dame in the article, but he talks about Indiana. He's going to Indiana.
He did say it.

I don't know if he said that but the two QBs those teams have committed are both 3-stars. I'm sure he's not too worried.
Alabama's and Oklahoma's QB verbal commits are NOT 3 stars.
I'm more worried about Michigan.
Alabama's 2012 QB commit, Alec Morris, is a 3-star. However, Alabama runs a hyper-conservative "we always have the lead"-style offense that punishes risk-taking. The kid they have is ideal for their system: he's a big, smart kid with a very big arm from a proven winner.
He'll enter the depth chart behind:
- 4-star AJ McCarron, 6-4, 205 - 2 years (pro-style starter)
- 5-star Phillip Sims, 6'2", 217- 2 years (dual-threat)
- 3-star Phillip Ely, 6'1", 187- 3 years (typical UA QB)
Oklahoma's 2012 QB, Trevor Knight, is a bona fide 4-star, #5 dual-threat in the class.
He'll enter the depth chart behind:
- 4-star Landry Jones, 6-4, 229 1 year
- 3-star Drew Allen*, 6-5, 239 3 years
- 4-star Blake Bell R-Fr., 6-6 245 3 years
- 3-star Kendall Thompson, 6-2, 195, 4 years
Michigan has:
-5-star Denard Robinson, 6-0, 193, Jr., 1 year
- 4-star Devin Gardner, 6-4, 210, So., 2 years
- 3-star Russell Bellomy, 6-3, 185 4 years
- 4/5-star Shane Morris, 6 years (2013 commit)
Alabama's and Oklahoma's QB verbal commits are NOT 3 stars.
According to scout.com they sure are. And I use scout.com for reference because if you take a look at the recruiting home page for IE, we list the 'stars' next to our recruits as they pertain to scout.com, not any other site.

I don't really like Scout and they rarely are on que with the other sites. 247, Rivals and ESPN all feel that he is a 4star. His offer list is stupid good too. Scout is definitely an outlier on this one, and even if he were a 3*, his offer list trumps that.
I like where we sit with Gunner if Bama gets Winston.
Fair enough. This guy combined with Ferguson, Greenberry, Chris Brown and either Payton or Agholor (please, lord) would be a passing offense to talk about for a looooong time.

Kiel can run too. I know I am a broken record on this, but I truly feel that Gunner would be a program changing type of player for us. Kelly has never had a kid this talented paired with all of the tools he looks for in a QB.
In Urban Meyer's book, he talked about getting on a plane after his last visit with Tebow before NSD. He looked at his assistant and told him that getting Tebow would be the difference in winning National Championships and just winning the SEC. Gunner is Kelly's Tebow, just with a better arm.
I know Morris isn't at UM yet, but I think he has to factor into what you're laying out here.
Question. IF Gunner commits to ND what's the chances DGB starts looking are way? I thought I remember that DGB was impressed with Gunner. My thought was that Gunner was always going to commit to Oklahoma and DGB would follow. When Gunner commited to IU their was no way DGB follow would follow to that program. But if gunner comes to ND........ Do you think their's a chance we have a shot at DGB????? I know their's a lot of IFs.
