Recruit spot of note: Three very orange blazers on the sidelines, presumably from the Orange Bowl.

Why were reps from the Orange Bowl there? USC is ineligible.

There will be recruits who overlook this loss and look at the bigger picture. ND offers a great education, a great football environment, and a campus/community filled with great people. These recruits also know we are rebuilding.

Yup... but if K. Marshall was most likely not impressed by our running game tonight!

If we get no good news out of this weekend, it can't really be looked as anything other than a setback.

Recruiting is like getting a girl. Getting a girl back to your place is half of the battle. If you're unable to perform you are never going to be able to get them to commit long term (i.e. Letter of commitment). Notre Dame had a great chance to "finish the deal" tonight but was unable to perform. It will be interesting to see what the recruits who were there thought. I just feel like in order for Notre Dame to move forward they need to make a big statement. Like beating scUM and MSU and USC in the same year

Really... How do you explain Floys and Teo ?

None of the top kids were committing this weekend even if ND destroyed USC. Does this defeat make the recruitment of some of them harder... sure! But kids have short memories and what is key is how we finish the year.

If I'm Gunner I see a chance to crack the depth chart early.
Same thing for the Marshall's and the DB recruits.
Unfortunately our positions of need are positions of great importance.

Some recruits bond with the team and just feel it, they would be pissed at our loss and want to help make sure they are part of the rebuilding. Elmer was visiting Michigan for the ND game and was mad that we lost....then comitted to us

And that's our selling point after this embarassing loss...

We have a great team! Just missing a few key pieces

Kids these days want to win. Not saying the don't want to work hard in the classroom but if you can't win they say bye bye.

As disappointing a loss in quite a while, worse than the Michigan loss. When is Nd going to get a statement win. We can only hope to shock Stanford. We played absolutely horrible, yet still could have won. It's not just having turnovers, it's the type of turnovers. For the second time this year-a fumble on the goal line and a touchdown for the other team. That is a swing of 14 points in a matter of seconds. Few teams will overcome this. I know it sounds stupid but take away these things and we win. We are not far from becoming a winner-just when?

That's just so utterly wrong. Kids want to have confidence in the coaches and the program for when they are there, and like the school. Look at Clemson pulling in top 5 classes consistently over the years despite sucking on the field.

The truth is, ND just needs to not tank the end of this season and we'll hold everyone we currently have and close strong. We absolutely 100% need to be 8-3 going into the Stanford game though. A loss to Wake Forest, Maryland, Navy or BC could seriously destroy us. Maryland's O scares me a little.

There's no doubt that ND is still a special place.

Yea nothing really new yet. Mahone said atmosphere was amazing etc. Said Marshall doesn't get off campus till tomorrow, but he is recruiting him pretty hard. Tomorrow is when all the news will come out.
