That's what I was thinking. Looking at the Kelly scheme he likes his tackles that long (6'7"+) which screams Nichols. Lombard is more the height and weight of guards or centers as of late, except Chris Stewart, (nobody is that big!)
The guards and centers are really important to this offense in picking up blocking assignments on the fly. A lot of what people have ascribed to bad technique has actually been brain freeze in this offensive scheme of Kelly's.
Also, I think ND needs more shoring up inside. Finally, I watched Nichols bury a few people when he played.
And really, this is the last, Lombard can play on the left side as well as the right. All I saw Nichols play was left side.
