This game is going to be very different from last year I think. Barkley wasn't in last year, and Kiffin was pretty conservative through most of the game. USC always plays us tough, and this will be a night game. I expect their offense to be better than last year with Barkley in there, but I hope we dominate more throughout the game. Last year we got some great breaks and some very quick scoring drives at the end of both halves. We had a lot of turnovers, and got lucky with some unbelieveable drops by USC receivers. We can't expect things will go our way like that a 2nd time, gotta have a much better game this time around.

5* DT Grizzle McHoneycutt.

This guy should be at the top of our list.

Hope it's Kelly green. Those jerseys against Army last year were awesome.

Lo Wood tweeted something to the extent that he wants the stadium to be the loudest in the country that game.

Don't feel like looking for the actual tweet so I am paraphrasing

Good opportunity to scout tonight. Should be a good duel between two superstar sophomore wide receivers: Robert Woods and Cal's Keenan Allen.

From watching Cal USC, I think we're stronger in the trenches. The only advantage they really have is speed. If they can create a crease, they have a few guys who can make big plays. We should be at least 7 point favorites.

We will be able to run the ball on them. Pay attention Keith Marshall.

I was impressed with their D-backs. They cover the field well.

I want ND to crush USC, I mean 66-0 beatdown but then again the USC faithful might start to suspect the obvious...Kitten's a joke and I want the Kitten to stick around for many years.

Also, heard that Dillon Baxter is likely transferring...

I don't know if this has been discussed at any point but is there a chance College Gameday is there for this game? I don't know if it has already been set, but I couldn't find a better game on the schedule for next week with more attraction to it than this one.

I don't know what chances we really have but a strong USC win over Cal definately doesn't hurt.

There is really only two games that I could see that would deserve it.

Auburn v. LSU if Auburn beats Florida

and

Wisconsin v. MSU if MSU is able to beat Michigan

As long as we take care of the football we will win this game. Period. We are clearly the better team. Only way I see us losing is if we beat ourselves (which is entirely possible as the first two games of the season showed).

If Florida wins, that leaves LSU playing an unranked Auburn. If MSU loses, Wisconsin (who also has already been in a gameday game) plays an unranked MSU team. That's probably our best chance. Still a long shot.

The only reason I don't think Gameday will come to South Bend is that they already did the whole "rare night game" thing with ND/Michigan. Also, that Stanford/ND game could be a Gameday lock depending on how things go for both teams the rest of the season, and surely ESPN wouldn't have THREE Notre Dame games in a season. In fact, I can't remember them featuring the same team twice in one season. They really try to spread the show around the country and feature as many different schools (home and away) as possible.

That and we fudged up big time the first two weeks.

I think we're being a little too cavalier about this. They had a bad day on offense, which we can definitely empathize with, except they still scored 30 points. Their defensive players are the best we'll face all year and the Barkley-Woods connection is going to be damn hard to stop. I think we can win, but it'll be a lot closer than a lot of you think.

20 of their points came on drives that started inside Cal's 37 yard line.

USC is probably going to have more tough third down situations than they'd like. It'll just come to, to be cliche, execution at that point.

USC won't be able to run on this team. They'll get the edge better than Michigan State could, but that is the type of day I expect for the interior run defense.

Me thinks a lot of people forget how many studs Cal has on defense. They've been great at recruiting good players for D for a while now.

I still think we stuff USC's run game, but I think predictions of them having negative yardage is a bit much...or I guess in this case, a bit less...?

**** it. It works.
