If Coach has "The Package" prepared [i.e. he thinks it's ready to function as a weapon] and still waits for a "convenient time" when it would be considered by pundits to be "safe", I'll be stunned. Kelly in my opinion doesn't think that way. If he thinks something is ready, it's ready. Unless the regular offense has a reversion, and Coach decides that it needs more smoothing work than he thought, I'll be amazed if we do not see "The Package" in the first half or early in the second.

I don't care who the package is for as long as it's effective. Like someone already mentioned, USC will undoubtedly have to plan for it and it will just be one more thing hanging over their heads.

And hell, if it works, maybe our red zone efficiency will finally be on the rise.

Kelly flat out wants to win. He expects nothing less. He wants Championships. Golson is the future tho... As much as people want to red shirt him, Golson will be our showtime playmaker in the very near future. I put my money on Golson playing on saturday. Hell we may see both of them play! But my money is on Everett.

For those who believe it's Golson, I'll pose this question:

If Golson played Jefferson during practice, don't you think that the AF defense would be more alert for his running ability since they've already practiced with Jefferson? I may not be wording that correctly, but in my mind it makes some sense.

IMO, I beleive it will either be Hendrix or Riddick.

I'm going with Hendrix.

I like the idea of employing the package for this game. If it needs tweaked, we have two weeks until the next game to get the bugs out.

prob going to be hendrix as most have said...but for those of you who can't believe he is letting it out of the bag or not a good time to do it against AF....i look at it 2 different ways...1) our redzone offense has sucked...so maybe this could be of some help
2) he whoever "he" is, is going to have some gitters...better to get them out now instead of waiting till the USC game or Stanford..

one more thing....against Pitt when we struggled to move the ball people wanted Dayne to come in...well i don't think BK was comfortable with that and could be the reason to hand the reigns over if we again can't get the ball moving to Hendrix

My thoughts precisely. I'm expecting a red zone package - in which case ND will probably opt for the bigger more physical running QB.

On a side note, I think part of the motivation here is to give Hendrix his live audition. College coaches always have to think about next year.

Everyone seems to be saying it's either Hendrix or Golson. Why not Hendrix and Golson. Even for just a series or two. That would really give Kiffen something to worry about. Kelly's history is that he is not afraid to play multiple QBs.

If we use Hendrix, I'd rather us save Golson a year of eligibility. No sense in wasting that just to 'give Kiffen something to worry about.'

I think it is possible that Golson had so much success this week on the prep squad against a good Irish D that Kelly feels he should be utilized in a similar way in games going forward. I don't like the idea of burning his redshirt either 6 games into the season, and I think it will be Hendrix, but something else to think about.

Who knows, just because Everett was running demo, it doesn't mean he didn't get any first team/special package snaps.

I think the demo reps could have opened Kelly's eyes, but obviously, this is merely speculation.

IMO if Kelly wanted to run his special package personnel he had ample opportunity to do so in the Purdue game. I would be shocked if we see any special plays on Saturday. Personally I think Kelly is just trolling the Chair force Academies defensive coordinator.

I was getting pumped for the purdue beat down, because even though we all knew purdue sucked and therefore couldnt really revel in this victory we would at least get a chance to see what hendrix could do..particularly in the red zone.

but they never went to him..clearly because he isn't ready to do jack ****.

That's why im giving this golson thing a 5% chance of happening...kelly is seeing how insane this kid really is and realizes that tommy rees time is OVER as far as next season is concerned and therefore is willing to use these next five games until he takes over as starter for stanford and the bowl game.

back to reality...the package is just going to be some gimmicky floyd/riddick stuff with a concentration of getting theo A LOT MORE touches.
