I'm confident Diaco will have the schematic answers this time. I'm not confident that Tuitt, Lynch, and Shembo will play smart and disciplined enough to get the job done though. I'm praying EJ is good to go against AF.

smart and power... from all the games i've seen so far our defensive line is the cream of the crop... Only 1 rushing touchdown against our defense.... that speaks volumes... i just don't want to see any long passes if we stop the run they will pass it if we can lock them down on both fronts is the key... Again we need a field goal or touchdown every redzone shot and no turnovers is the offensive keys...

As for NT playing off the Center by a yard, my best guess would be that they do this in order to read and play the A-gap more accordingly.

i agree fully with the speed and disipline, but if we can jar up that line take away gaps with the big guys we shut the holes down before they have a chance..

they do a great job of second level blocking also...

In here Jefferson says he likes to run away from 300 lb linemen, and claims to be a finesse runner. Doesn't sound like a guy who wants alot of physical play.

Finesse runner or not, hes gonna get hit. There's no way their line will keep Teo, Fleming, Lynch, etc. out of the backfield

Size, Speed, and Strength all neutralized by the option when run by a disciplined team. The only way to beat it is with disciplined assignment football. I don't know who wrote it in an earlier post but the D will just have to to their job and trust the other players around them to do theirs. I hated playing against this offense in college but loved that we ran it. We beat teams we shouldn't have cause the were undisciplined. Watch out for some kind of counter out of the gate on O from AF to get our boys thinking on their heels, rather than playing fast and aggressive.

ND is ranked 9th in Football Outsiders' Week 6 F/+.

ND is ranked 5th in the S&P currently-- we're 16th offensively and 6th defensively.

If we had come back against USF and the secondary hadn't melted down in the 4th quarter against UM, we'd probably be ranked 5-6 right now. Our SoS thus far is top 5.
