Now that it's been a few weeks I thought I'd stop back by and see what you think about ND's improvements, and the outlook on the rest of your season. Personally I really only see Standford being a L but the rest of your schedule is very winnable. Are most still pleased with Kelly?

feeling good about our season. stanford and usc are the stiffest tests remaining. but air force and navy always play us tough.
hopefully diaco has us ready for the option.

How do you feel about the remainder of your season, starting big ten play and all of that? i would say purdue is the only guarantee left on your schedule the rest could be pretty tough.

I wouldn't minding playing OSU again for a chance to even up the all time series, but another crack at Michigan would be nice too. We had them beat solid for 3 quarters.

Ohio State right?? I hope we don't play them this year in a bowl, means we would have sucked down the stretch. I honestly think they will struggle to be 6-6. I see wins vs. IU, Purdue, and a possible vs. Penn State. But @ Nebraska, @ Illinois, and Wisconsin are losses. I think Michigan whips them too.

I think we're on the right track. I'd like to see how we handle the next couple of weeks.

^^ No doubt. Despite everything our talent is good enough, sans the turnovers, to win out. Very excited for whats to come.

I don't know, the more I look at it the more cupcake I feel our schedule is. Iowa doesn't look great, Northwestern (w/o Persa) is suspect, Nebraska and msu we should be underdogs for but not unwinnable. And who know's what's up with osu, they get the rest of their roster back next game so they'll be better.

I'm pleased with Kelly because he is building a very strong foundation, evidenced by the great line play. The skill players will come and his offense will get to where he wants it, but this foundation was what was missing the last decade. The only thing I am displeased with is that there is no improvement on special teams. There is literally no blocking on punt returns. They'll need to hire a better special teams coordinator.

By the way, how bout dem Lions! I can't wait for the Monday Night game. Revenge on da Bears

I'm not inclined to blame our ST failures on Elston. Our ST was great last year, and our DL has been phenomenal since Elston came on board. Wish I knew what the problem was.

Lets take one game at a time . Purdue was awesome but Every team we play has had this circled on the calendar all year . I feel good right now but this team has taught me over the years we are never as good or as bad as I think. That win felt damn good though!!

time will tell. northwestern is a scrappy team and tough out but you should win that one. Iowa may not look terribly great but they always have a good defense and michigan state has a good d as well. im not sold on illinois as a top 25 team but who knows.

the main thing with those games is that they are all on the road. youve been nice an cozy at home for the first five weeks and now you have to travel, and a big bullseye comes with that #12 ranking. teams are going to be chomping at the bit to get a shot at that.

its going to be an interesting last half of the season. i dont see a collapse like the years past, but i dont see you coming out of that stretch completely unscathed.

I think you misunderstood. I love Elston and definitely don't want him fired. I'm just saying, as far as the punt return game goes, there has been literally no improvement. There is no blocking of the kicking team. This has to change. Either Elston should stop by the practices of other teams or NFL teams and pick up some tips or we need a graduate assistant or something to work on the punt team.

Without having to play Wisconsin I really think Michigan has a great chance to run the table. OSU looks pathetic.

Michigan, like Notre Dame, would still get demolished by an Alabama or LSU in a BCS game... but I think they'd have a fighting chance against anyone out of the ACC or West Virginia. Will be interesting to see how this year plays out.

Yeah that's just it, I don't want a great looking record then get decimated in a bowl...again. So long as we don't get a team out of the SEC west (maybe FL) we should be ok.

I think Michigan will lose 3-4 more. The 2nd half will not be nearly as good as the first half of the season, similar to last season.

I'm banking on that. Got a bet with a girl at school and if Michigan finishes with a better record than ND, I'm sporting maize and blue to class for a week.

Teams start to hit their stride about the time the conference schedule starts. I do feel like this Michigan team is vastly overrated. Transplant Denard with another quarterback and this is a 4-5 win team. He's a game-changer in the way Michael Vick was/is.

At East Lansing and at Ames will not be easy games. While I'm not sold on Zook making Illinois a relevant team again, I think they have to at least be respected. Nebraska will be a tough game no matter where they play and I guarantee O$U will get up for Michigan. Especially since that game may decide their eligibility for the bowl season.

I don't feel that way. While our offense might get punked I am sure our defense can hang around with anyone.

I don't know if our defense has enough speed to hang with SEC teams yet. Alabama and Florida are fast at the skill positions.

I think we could stuff the rush against most any SEC team. Whether our secondary could cover their receivers, I don't know.

Our LB's and or safeties covering backs out of the backfield and TE's. Just imagine Dan Fox covering Rainey, Demps or Richardson out of the backfield.

If Michigan goes 12-0 or 11-1 and to a BCS bowl/Natty Championship I will throw up. Brady Hoke doing that in his first season would literally make me sick.
