He definately needs to work on getting stronger. He doesn't look that big. He looks good in the video but he would be a man among boys if he got bigger

At 220 I think he'd be a OLB in our scheme

It depends on his athleticism and physical development. Few people anticipated Schwenke adding 60+ lbs. this last off-season.

That said, you're probably right. If his speed is in the 4.5-4.7 range, he's an OLB.

He wont stay at 220 though. 220 for junior is pretty big. He will probably be between 230-240 his senior year and 260-270 before he would see the field at Notre Dame

I'm inclined to think if his speed was in that range, with his other measurables, he would have a much more impressive offer list at this point. 4.8-5.1 is nothing to scoff at with that size, but to me if he is going to receive and offer I would think the most likely way would be if he put on weight and gained strength to project on the DL.

Great measurables does not always lead to a great offer list. See Gehrig Deiter.

He's certain to be the butt of a few jokes in the near future!
Sorry...had to.
Oh man...I'm not ready for the 2013 recruiting yet.

Last year took so much out of me. This year looks to be a bit more stable.

Sitting very very well with this one.

Was it your intention to throw out a Butt joke or did you do that by accident?

I hope we are indeed sitting well with Butt. Although, I think at 6'6" and 220, Butt is probably built more like a tight end. LOL!

247 gives has him as a :s::s::s::s: WDE/SDE with a not too shabby grade of 94. Some 94s in the 2012 Class include Banner, Darboh, Bryon Marshall, Taylor McNamara, Korren Kirven, and Greg McMullen.

berecruited.com whoever they are notes:

Jake is a young sophomore, born in July 1995. Jake had a breakout sophomore year and was a menace in opponents backfield, leading the team in sacks and TFL. He can add 40-50 pounds to his young, lean frame without sacrificing quickness. He also plays varsity basketball and played travel soccer for 6 years which developed his footwork and quickness. He's an honor student interested in Medical School or Engineering. Also selected top 100 underclassmen for basketball for Ohio.

I didn't find any new offers but he was in Ann Arbor for the ND game, saw a OSU game, and plans to catch a game in South Bend.

Per 247, his grandfather played for Leahy. Loves ND, #1 on his list.

Went to ND Camp and got reps at OLB & TE.

Same city as Eilar Hardy.

I thought same school at first. I was wrong.

Eilar went to Pickerington Central. Jake goes to Pickerington North.

2013 will need a TE, but will it need an OLB? Seems like Kelly needs some MLB's, no?.

Why are you jacked for 2013 recruiting? I'm only seeing guys that have O$U #1 and ND #2. Who else are we leading for or favorites to land?

.

Butt's grandfather is Bob Lalley who was a member of the great 1946 ND frosh class that was ranked the #1 All- Time recruiting class by Sports Illustrated.

Lally played Guard and never played in a losing game in his 4 years at ND (46-49). He was the starting RG on the 1949 National Champs. He played on 3 Irish national championship teams.

Good morning, everyone. I've been a member of Irish Envy for years, and an outside observer for even longer, and thought this would be an opportune time for my first post.

Jake is one of my 30+ cousins from my Father's side of the family and, after checking this website religiously for years, words cannot describe how proud I was to see a thread dedicated to his recruiting and interest in ND. As noted, our grandfather, Bob Lally, played for Coach Leahy and won three national championships during his playing career. Cape cod noted that he never played in a losing game at ND, which is true, but our grandfather also never played in a losing game during his four year high school football career at Cathedral Latin in Cleveland. Eight years and never a single lose; really quite amazing, if I may say so.

I am certainly very proud of and excited for Jake, and hope he lands an ND offer soon. In the meantime, I look forward to interacting with you all and please know how much I appreciate all of your contributions to this site.
