You mean other QBs in college football make three TOs in a game too? Barkley should be benched, his arm is obviously weak, he is slow too. My god, why would any coach start him if he turns the ball over like that!

From the Irish perspective, that's almost like the "pot calling the kettle black", don't you think?

I'm a sportswriter myself, so I get when a writer had an idea for how his story would read planned out in advance. I really, really do get it.

But when I see this:

ESPN said:
Perhaps the biggest revelation in Arizona State’s three-touchdown drubbing of USC wasn’t so much the final score but how both teams responded.

Arizona State players and fans reacted as if it was expected despite the fact the Sun Devils hadn’t beaten the Trojans since 1999, losing 11 straight games.

...And right above his story is a video of the ASU players giving Dennis Erickson A GATORADE BATH, I have to laugh.

I don't know the proper font for sarcasm or else I would have applied it to my statement to avoid confusion. I am poking fun at those who think we should have 0 penalties and 0 turnovers in a season.

Barkley's one bad game cannot be compared to Tommy-the-Turnover-Machine-Reese.

What's Tommy up to now..48 ints and 36 fumbles? But, he's 6-1 as the starter.

I said almost those same things after shutting down IE Saturday night and turning on the ASU game. I found myself muttering, "He's not your guy, he's Carroll's! Put in the freshman, NOW!"

Then I realized Barkley was 5 Stars, #1 QB in his class, the prototype QB body ...

Who is Reese?

Probably the guy with "48 ints and 36 fumbles".

BTW, AIF, the ND record for INTs is 44, held by Steve Beuerlein.
Theismann 35
Hanratty 34
Clements 29
Montana 25

Hanratty, Clements, and Montana won National Championships.

Hanratty, Clements, and Theismann made All-American.

Their TD/INT ratios were all 1:1 or LESS for their CAREERS.

0 penalties and 0 turnovers, no. But I would love less than 15 turnovers through 4 games. I don't have exact numbers on penalties, but that has been atrocious as well. Don't make yourself look ignorant by downplaying those facts.

Our TOs through the first four games:

USF- 5
UM- 4 (disregarding the alleged TO on the final play of the game)
MSU- 3
Pitt- 2

Terrible numbers, but at least there's a strong positive trend there. At this rate, we should be +6 against Stanford.

Do you have to keep posting real FACTS? It's really not fair.

How did this become another Rees debate?

But wait... I thought we were debating "Reese"....

Or maybe it was "Reis" that I was thinking of.

It certainly couldn't of been "Rees" because Tommy has his own thread already

In reality it was USC’s No. 7 on defense, T.J. McDonald, who was called for three personal foul penalties.

I didn't see this game. How the hell does a collegiate player even get to have three personal fouls in one game? After the second one, you have to bench him for the remainder of the game.

I scream about it when someone on the Giants has more than 1, but I understand the pros are a little different. In college, if you're a coach who wants to be taken seriously at all, I can't see allowing a kid to remain in the game after the second one, unless you think one or both of them were really unjustified.
