I have a few questions and a comment for everyone here at IE, both members and mods, I ask it with all the respect in the world. I'm in no way trying to be a smart @$$, I very much like being a member here and don't want to be banned or anything. If my post is too rebelious please just delete it and send me a PM not to ask stuff like this again and I won't.

Are we only suppose to exchange pleasantries here? Are we only suppose to agree on everything or try to put a positive spin on what we feel is poor play or coaching? Why are members refered to as "complainers", "dumb", "freaking out", "whiners" or "bitching" if they have an opposing or negative opinion about the way our team/players played or decisions the coaching staff makes? I thought a forum is suppose to invite discussion not discourage opinions.

I hope nobody gets mad about me asking this....I'm hitting submit with my eyes closed.

I said freak out, because people were freaking out. Begging for Rees to get injured, screaming at EVERY single mistake the team made, cussing out other posters who preached patience (we did win in the end you know), etc etc etc, is freaking out.

There's a ton of healthy debate on this site...not sure where you think it's being muted. Lord knows I could be wrong as I've been wrong plenty of times before (I said Crist should start the season and was sorely wrong). I'm responding to a lot of it right now b/c tomorrow I won't have time b/c of work. And when I argue a point I argue it strongly, or at least try to. The only person I've had an issue with is ND_Will_Return, b/c he was saying stuff that simply wasn't true, and then acting like it was true (and then he said he was 'taken out of context' LOL).

As far as calling people 'complainers'...are they not complaining? If ND wins by the exact Vegas line, and people are complaining, well, they are complainers, at least to me. And if people see the good in everything, and ignore the bad, are they not sunshine pumpers? We have names for everyone, do we not? (There are a ton of names being thrown at me all the time LOL!!!)

Thanks for the reply! Whats with the Nuet thing? It's not so much that I feel things are being muted as I feel some people here get their panties in a bunch when someone voices an opinion they don't agree with, especially if its something negative about a coach or player. When I found out about IE, the first thing I thought before I read anything was "oh chit, a bunch of Irish fans on the internet in one place....this should be interesting". I expect along with all the good, there will be disagreements, loud mouths, fanatics, maybe even a few drinkers, etc......thats how you can tell it's an authentic ND football site.

I would just like to see more encouragement of making and debating posts and less complaining about them.

They didn't win by the exact Vegas line. I would love to see ND's record against the spread since 1994. I would bet some ND haters are very wealthy.

100-117 against the spread since '93. Believe it or not, we were only 7-5 ATS in '93. Best year was Tyrone's first, 9-4 in 2002.

No worries, I would have been more disgusted if I got my money in at -3.5, I thought the line was still great when I got in at -7. I think good rule of thumb is don't bet on us when the line is -7 or more. Double digit spread for ND seems to have been a sucker bet historically.

I'm sorry, but I don't think it's fair to categorize those who recognize that there is something wrong and are subsequently calling for a change as freaking out. I'm not saying fire BK or bring in a new DC or anything like that, but the truth is that with solid QB play we're looking at 3-1, possibly 4-0. So whether or not Dayne or Tommy is the best chance to win, it's not good enough for us to accomplish what this team is otherwise capable of THIS YEAR and that's frustrating. Now I'm not OK with sitting back, taking a lashing as a true fan and being OK with it. I recognize deficiencies and I would like to see them addressed, however possible. That DOES NOT qualify as freaking out.

ND wins this weekend, but not by as much as most people believe they will. PU will be up to play this Irish, especially with a extra week to prepare and able to see some things that Pitt was able to do against the Irish to disrupt the flow of the game.

For being a huge publicly bet team 110-117 is very good numbers against the spread. Remember because ND is ND they get the benefit of the doubt. A few points are added to the spread every week with this team because of how much they are bet by the public.

That's why I've migrated away from the gamedays threads. I honestly don't even log on here anymore during gameday because of the idiocy that permeates gameday threads. I get just as mad as everyone else, but why can't people bring about their concerns in a mature fashion, with a legitimate solution? I don't know the answer, hence my absence during gamedays.

That said I think we need to get into high tempo mode which gives the defense less opportunity to prepare and limits their packages/coverages. Pitt exposed a flaw in Tommy, and they are going to have to gameplan for it for the rest of the year.

I never read the gameday threads as they go on---must be a really irritating experience. For sure I'll never post on one while the game is happening. Even when, in other threads, you become programmed to just surf by certain posters without reading them anymore, you get stuck reading most of it anyway in the responses. Civil we ain't. A lot of this reminds me more of high school high testosterone [I'm never wrong about anything] "debating" than collegial thought-through give-the-other-guy-some-credit discussion.

And, to say something about the thread: Purdue will make us work hard for everything we get. I have no illusions about that. We don't let anything go REALLY easily. [Lord, I hope I'm wrong about that starting this week]. My guess is that we'll win ugly again. Hopefully just not AS ugly.

Purdue loses this game, and their season REALLY spirals out of control, because they come to the realization that they won't even sniff a bowl game, and their coach will be fired when the smoke clears after another 4-8 season.

I don't like giving that many points to a desperate team playing a night game at home against the one team their fans would like to beat more than anyone else on their schedule, even IU.

Prepare to squirm for 3 quarters my friends.
