I'd like one game where I don't have to get nervous, please
From what I saw, Filer played pretty well and looked good in coverage, so I'd like to see more of him.
For those advocates of a special package w/ Golson, would you really like him to burn a year of eligibility for (maybe) a few plays a game? I say let him learn and develop without having to worry about anything else.
- New Punter
- New Punt Returner (How about Toma, Harrison Smith, Blanton, Michael Floyd)
- Different starting QB with expanded offense to truly include a QB run option threat.
- Start Lynch
- Don't start Niklas or Fox again
- More Nix whenever possible
- More blitzing when Lycnh is in and more stunting
- Get more creative in the run game especially in the second half when everyone has figured it out.
Reis running when all receivers are covered and he has an opening.
People need to stop lecturing on here about how we're not allowed to speculate/criticize certain plays, calls, decisions, etc.
Go Irish!
I agree.
I just joined IE recently and I'm enjoying it a lot. The amount of Notre Dame statistical, historical and football knowledge available from some of the members is amazing. There also seems to be a lot of genuinely nice people too.
The only slight downer has been some of the comments LIKE, but not direct quotes:
"The next person who says something negative about BK is getting a negative. rep" or
"Anyone who thinks we should try a different QB is a moron and doesn't know anything about football"
I don't know how some people here have absorbed so much knowledge of ND football, but seemed to missed some of the more common traits of our fans:
We are more emotionally attached to our team than most. Being hot headed is almost a prerequisite and the old saying "Opinions are like A-holes", was probably written about a Notre Dame Irish fan.
In short, Having an opposing opinion isn't complaining or whining, its part of being a true ND fan.
If someone says something stupid, don't slam him....school him.....he's one of us!

* Who are you starting Lynch over? KLM just had his best game of the season, and Johnson has been AWESOME against the run all season long. Those 2 guys are a big part of the reason why our defense has been so good against the run. Lynch needs to tap out a lot.....
Reis running when all receivers are covered and he has an opening. Make the defense respect him, and bring the read option into play.
Most successful college teams have a QB who can pick up 2-4 first downs a game, instead of punting. This is the same as a turnover when the QB is immobile.
First of all, it's Rees.
Second of all, the bolded part is not true. There have been lots of great teams without mobile QBs. Oklahoma made it to the title game with Sam Bradford (not exactly mobile) at QB. You ever see Greg McIlroy at Alabama run? Me neither, and he won a national championship. Matt Leinart basically won 2 titles as a non-running QB. Kellen Moore of Boise St can't run. Wiscy's QB couldn't run. Oklahoma St's Brandon Weeden has rushed exactly zero times for positive yards this year, and they've put up 61, 37, and 59 points in 3 games. Cinci went 12-0 with Pike at QB. I could go on and on.
Having a QB that can run is great, and I would LOVE to have one, believe me. But having a QB that can't run in no way means that you most likely aren't going to be successful, even for spread teams. Having a sorry QB means you won't be successful.
And if you asked me whether I'd rather have a thrower or a runner at QB, give me the thrower every single time. I'd rather have both, but we don't have that on our roster right now (Golson and Hendrix aren't even close to being ready)...

You obviously never saw Bernie Kosar play the position. He made the fat kids eating taffy look fast. Thank God for Webster Slaughter, Brian Brennan and Ozzie Newsome in Cleveland....That dude would have gotten smoked. Zero mobility but was extremely smart....Kind of reminds me of someone.......he wears #11.
Unless you mean by more 7 TO's I would have to disagree. HE gave us chances in our first 2 games but he also took them away. I just don't think Dayne has 7 TO's in 10 quarters.
I have no facts to back this up but, I would like to see Dayne get another chance. I guess I am a 5 star loving kind of guy. I just think that once he gets going that he offers more at this point than Tommy. But again, nothing to back up my claim.
If Tommy really grows into his ability to read the off-defender.....
