Randy Hart and ND were all over this kid last September. Then Scarlett tore an ACL in the playoffs and ND went through a coaching change. Since then he's heard from other schools but not ND.

Could be a consequence of the injury but more likely a question of the new staff's national ties. Randy Hart was long time UW coach and knew the Northwest's high schools and coaches well. Kelly and company seem to have ground to make up. At least a phone call.

Picked up offers from LSU and Texas Tech. Camped at USC but hasn't gotten an offer so far.

Mike Denbrock's recruiting him for ND.

Says he is wide open, but ND is definitely a school he will look at. Would like to visit in the future...

New Rivals premium article mentions something about the staff liking him in a different position in the 3-4. Anyone know what this is all about?

Seems like an odd option, but hey, what do I know?

In the 3-4 they're looking for hybrid DE/OLBs. Big mobile bodies. I don't know how mobile his 4.96 40 makes him or recovering from an ACL tear but the brainstrust thinks he is.

He's also picked up an offer from OU since the profile update.

8/27 piece on Brennan includes a video.

Oregon Defensive End Brennan Scarlett Talks Recruiting | U Recruit | High School and College Football Recruiting

"I haven't gotten the chance to sit down and narrow my list yet. Hopefully before mid-season is when I'll have that decided, and what officials I want to take,"

...

"This summer I went and saw USC, UCLA, Cal, and Stanford," he said. Those visits will help him work towards his final list in the future, and may be comprised of similar names. "All of those schools I saw are top notch schools. I wouldn't be surprised if they all ended up on the narrowed down list,"

...

"It somewhat helps Oregon and Oregon State that I'm right here, because I'm able to see them and their coaches more often than other schools. They're both great schools,"

He's been selected to play in USA All-American Bowl.

J.C. Shurburtt on FightOn247 thinks he may end up a Trojan and play DE, DT, or TE as a Jumbo Athlete.

Also
3.7 GPA/1700 SAT
wants to go to med school.

ND doesn't have a med school but does have an outstanding premed program.

Was told that he is behind a couple prospects on priority right now. Hopefully those 2 are IShaq and Lyons.

Also being looked at as possibly OLB, thats a big OLB

ISD thinks he are fading away on Lyons' board. I hope that it's French and Ishaq and now Savon. I think I stand alone on this but I dont want Scarlett. We are loaded at DE and I like Tuitt and Lynch way more than Scarlett. I dont want a crowd to turn one of our current commits somewhere else. Nothing against Scarlett because he looks good on video but I like what we have and Im afraid him committing could turn away Lynch or Tuitt.
Id also rather have Ishaq or French as a remaining OLB recruit. I also like Ray Drew as a wildcard. just my opnion.

Competition breeds Champions....

And Champions don't duck competition...

Lynch and Tuitt aren't "Duckers" so get that out of your head right now. These kids are beasts and true to their word. The more athletes you can bring into the fold, the better you'll be...or at least I think I heard that somewhere.

I understand that but recruits are different now adays. Im not saying that Lynch and or Tuitt arent champions or that they would leave. I think Lynch is 100% as him and his mother have stated. But there is such things as to much talent at a certain position. 4-5* recruits want early playing time and that becomes less and less likely with the more talent you bring in. There is no DE's in this class that I would want more than Lynch and Tuitt. Theyre monsters and I feel blessed to be a fan of the school theyre playing for. I just want to get this class in here and on campus as is at DE.

Couldn't agree more. These kids do not and will not shy away from competition. I can't think of one instance where a stud recruit didn't go somewhere because of the level of competition. Also keep in mind that in this type of defense these kids get rotated in as much as possible so the more bodies the better. As far as the number of DE's we have, a coworker of mine said no to be overly surprised if Springmann ends on the OL. He's done a great job for Bishop Dwenger this season.

That doesn't mean that things work out after they get to campus. Don't forget the mess in Florida with the disgruntled young defensive linemen. I think a recruit should consider the depth chart and fellow classmates when choosing a school.

You can't really use Florida as a good example when you had a DL coach lying to kids then bolts for the NFL. Look at Southern Cal the last 8 years or Texas. Stud recruits go there despite the the number of blue ch ippers who are committed or already on the roster.

That Florida incident was a few years ago. I'm specifically talking about the current freshman class and the problems they've already had with their coaching staff.
