Indeed..
You see Ian Kennedy nearing 20 wins in Arizona??? I like the Yanks mixing in the farm system again. Even though we'll miss out on the occasional winner, like Kennedy.. possibly. He really hasn't proved it long term but he's having a nice season.
Montero debuting nicely.
Meh you just never know. Pitching in the NL west is a lot different then the AL let alone the AL east. Plus it's not like they got crap outta that deal
lets hope the yanks can hold on the lead. the rays look really good right now and we have 7 games left with them. the pitching needs to step up. montero looks really good.
Hopefully they keep Montero at DH for the rest of the year. Cause pretty much anything at this point would be an upgrade to Posada
So the best baseball team that's ever been fielded is now only 3.5 games up on the Rays for the wild card. I will probably die of laughter if the Rays win the wild card(only of course if it's the Yankees winning the East)
Mo gets his 600th save
Jeter got another hit bringing his total to 3075. He needs 35 hits to catch Winfield but with only 15 games left he's not going to do it this seasson. He on a 12 hitting streak but he'd have to hit over .500 in those 15 games to catch Winfield.
Next year.
If he gets 20 more hits this season he'd end up at 3095. He'd then need 161 hits next year to pass Eddie Murray for 12th place.
Looking at the guys above him for the most part they played 1-7 years after their 3,000th hit. But many of them changed positions. If Jeter keeps his batting eye (hitting .296 for the year) but slows too much to be a shortstop where would the Yankees play him?
Needs 1 to tie Hoffman for the MBL Record.

LF, RF, but I'd say most likely, DH. I think he's definitely still got a year or 2 at SS though. Perhaps he and Rodriguez could switch some as 3B and DH in a couple years?
Jete's got two more years under contract and a player option. I agree that he could play short for another two years, but I don't see him excersing his option.
If anything the following is an understatement: Rivera is a once in a lifetime talent.
You really think he wouldn't finish it out as a Yankee?

Slight quibble as Hoffman is only about 2 years older and they're both head and shoulders above the others on the Career Save List.
ND wins, Rivera gets 601, Granderson hits 40, A-Rod is back, drinks on me.
602!! Congrats Mariano!
Michael Kay probably said something very corny. I'll have to check the DVR when I get home.
Getting texts that Mariano is still on the mound and even the Twins are giving him a standing ovation.
