If BK wasn't screaming at our guys after stupid mistakes I would be confused. Should he be calm because we are playing with a collective head up our a$$ Its football if those boys havent been yelled at like that in high school when they mess up idk where they played.

hard to win a game when you turnover the ball 5 times, commit stupid penalties, drop passes, and do not play your assignments on Defense. You add 2 weather delays and well you have a 23-20 loss... If the Irish were to play South Florida 10 times they would win 9.. Too bad the one loss was today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GO IRISH GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I actually love the fact that Kelly screams at them because as fans, that is what we are all doing in our heads or saying to our friends. They need to Wake the F up. I like that he demands perfection. Stop being little girls and play ball. I cant repaeat 95% of the stuff I was saying without insulting members who've attended ND but to sum it up-- for some reason I feel that ND is soft. I am not happy right now.

^This. Its a great change to see someone who cares about winning and is willing to get emotional about it. Though I must say, if he keeps it up at that level, consistently, I will not like it. I understand in this situation but if hes constantly livid and just furious it will not bode well for him.

So I suppose you won't want to waste your time coming here and talking about them, then?

Don't let the door..........

I guess I'll leave it to you to talk about how great they're playing then! (smirk). Look, I've been a fan most of my life, and I'll never quit them, but the facts are the facts. they've been underachieving for at least a decade. How many times have we seen them lose to teams with significantly inferior talent?

Disappointing, yes! Not only in our team performance but Coach Kelly as well. His yelling at and intimidating the players like he did repeatedly only serves to crush any confidence in themselves and more importantly, sends a very bad message to potential recruits. They have to ask themselves, do I really want to play for a coach who shows so little respect for his players?

Sweet Jesus....another one. Someone......grab the orange slices and fruit punch, STAT!!!!!!

These are big boys who are getting an almost 50,000 dollar education for free... Get over it. Get work done. Kelly is being paid millions of dollars to win... If he sees his kids not producing, I sure as hell hope he gets in someone face.

welost.

period.

and will be VERY lucky to be 2-1 after MSU... NOT because of what happend today... I felt that way BEFORE today.... we'll be lucky to be 2-1 because UM has a QB that should own us until proven otherwise and because frankly I felel MSU is a better team.....

has a great chance of being a very difficult season at this point...... hopefully they'll get hot

The way they played today I woulda been yelling too. Its one thing to lose, another to play sloppy and undisciplined. The easiest thing to control is yourself, when you cant do that you will lose more often than not. I dont blame Kelly at all for being upset.

I have to respectfully disagree. I like the fire Coach Kelly shows, they were HORRIBLE today and certainly did not deserve to be pampered. As far as future recruits not liking it... stay away then. It's Notre Dame, if you can't handle the heat or expectations, you might as well play for a coach who could care less. I think I speak for a lot of people on that point. I for one, would love to play for a coach who expects my absolute best on every play.

If talent were all it took to win a game, then they would play it on paper. They've only been "underachieving" to those whose expectations are unrealistic. This is a team that went 3-7, less than 5 years ago. In the meantime, they've gone through a coaching change, and myriad off the field distractions.

Sorry but it is by no stretch of the imagination unrealistic to expect our team, full of both top-tier player AND coaches to best powerhouses like Syracuse, Connecticut, Navy and USF.

I too will always support this team... but i am also a Browns fan, and I am not calling for a Super Bowl this year...

I am a realist.... after today it's gets hard for me to see this team having what many here considered a "successful season" prior to this game...

things cahnge and believers are made imo... but right now I don't see more than eight wins... just looking at the schedule.... where are the wins???

this is why you don't front load the schedule... hopefully I'm wrong.

We didn't, we scheduled South Florida.

And apparently, neither does South Florida. Thanks, try the veal.

USF, UM , MSU, Pitt.... not too many rougher roads to start the first month than that... and that is pretty much the case year in year out....

that was my point...

I know, good sir. Thus the smiley face guy at the top of the post, and the self depracating comment about South Florida's schedule not being front loaded.

Nothing new, we wouldn't be concerned if we won today. You and I think alike here...

If you "hate to be a pessimist" then shut up and don't be one! It's a long season!

What the hell is with all the new guys suddenly coming out of the woodwork tonight? Go away if you're not here to support ND or at least refrain from creating absolutely pointless threads like this.

Come on guys. Let's all take a deep breath.

Really, HEAD COACH? He fumbled the ball on the 1? He threw the easiest pick I have ever seen? He didn't look for the football on a crossing route? He missed a FG?

You could have made the same excuses for Charlie Weis vs. Navy and Syracuse. Just saying.

I'm not sure fumbling on the goal line and muffing punts and missing chippy field goals and not turning our heads on pass patterns are reflections of how we 'matched up' with USF. They're issues of focus.

Must be from the "crazy coach yelling"....... ;) ;)

Coach Kelly is ultimately responsible for this brutal, embarassing loss. Crist is simply trying to do what he is incapable of doing....completing passes...at least right now. Passes from the helmet up aren't going to allow your receivers to get control of the pass and have any YAC. On the numbers.....

How can you have a quarterback, who wins his last 4 games, turning a dismal season around, and then place him as your backup on the season opener?!?!?!? Amateur coaching. PERIOD!

Kelly's antics (Yelling, ranting etc...) are old news, and the players DO NOT respect him. This will make for a very long, undisciplined and disappointing season.....AGAIN!

Here's hoping the Irish fans can continue to cheer proudly for the likes of Rees, Floyd and the other true ND standouts. Go Irish!
