Football is a team sport, but Theo Riddick killed the Fighting Irish today. I can remember 3 dropped balls and a fumbled punt return. All the 3 drops would have been first downs and the muffed punt turned into South Florida points.

Bert, my theory on what you said is I think the hype gets to the players. The first game is hyped to death! Especially after the strong finish from last season. I'm not even sure I'd bring the players to the pep rally if I were coach. Pride is a terrible thing. What ND was is what they were, NOT what they are! Forget the past, it's long gone. What have you done for me lately should be the motto. So you're ND,big deal. That bus done left the station. You gotta PROVE it every-frigging-game. I don't wanna EVER hear again 'we've got 11 National Titles' blah blah. That's GONE,DONE! It's the PAST! NOW is NOW! YOU need to play your heart out EVERY game! You aren't playing little sisters of the blind, you're playing a good football team! Stay focused, play hard, forget the past! This isn't 88 ND anymore!

This is just embarrassing. Its hard to proud when the team plays like that. For all the Kelly is a QB guru talk, the bottom line is that Dayne is STILL a scattergun, and Rees STILL locks on to Floyd all the time every time. We just don't have a QB right now. Reese should start at Michigan, but he's not the answer.

I don't know how we even get ranked at the beginning of the year anymore. We were supposed to have turned some kind of corner last year, but we didn't. We didn't turn a corner, we didn't deserve to be ranked. Can anybody really take us seriously?

Do you think we could get special Irish Envy discount at the Betty Ford Center in December? There is going to be a lot more drinking if this is indicative as to how our season will go.

ND out yardaged them 508 to 254. If recruits don't take note of that then I PRAY they don't qualify to come to ND.

??? Losing is not embarrassing. However, the personal fouls, dropped balls, redzone turnovers, missed field goal- THOSE THINGS are embarrassing. USF is good team with a good chance at winning their conference (like it or not- a BCS conference).

Ban me for being a realist. Offense was putrid. Our offensive line was average at best. We don't have a QB. our defense can't make a play when it counts, and out special teams coughed up the ball in a critical situation. I'm done being an ND apologist. It's time time to put up or shut up, and this team layed down.

No need to be an apologist, but I don't see your logic.

Offense put up 508 yards. How is that putrid? Putrid mistakes killed us. Yep. No doubt. We deserved to lose. But, Tommy put up about 300 yards in one half.
