Great video Nolan. The und.com site rocks. Glad to see the icon vids and being out of the country, looking for more throughout the season.

"In this room, we win. Out there, they get a chance to feel it."-- What a bad*ss quote.

Great idea to walk through more fans and I think those "ICON" videos could be cool all season, but Nolan needs to limit his use of "each and every day" to maybe 1 time per video and needs to figure out something else to do with his hands. He looks like Montgomery Burns. Other than those two little annoyances, good stuff.

Do recruits go into the locker room on gameday? After hearing those BK pre and post game speeches I'm not sure how you can say "no" to BK.

cool for the fans...but man that looks like a long procession...haven't ever been to campus so i am not sure exactly how long it would take...but from the diagrams and video..seems like a lot of starting and stopping for the players

ND Nation hates this.

Some ND fans probably still want the games broadcast in black and white. Can't please everyone all the time, especially foolish curmudgeons. I'm all about tweaking to make things better, as long as it doesn't undermine what makes Notre Dame special. I don't think you could make a reasonable argument that this undermines anything.

I think the majority of the time will be getting on and off the buses. The campus isn't that big - especially with a police escort.

Something else came to mind after watching this. The players didn't get the see the fans prior to kickoff other than the walk from mass to the stadium. (I guess they started walking through the student section last year) With this in place they will see more of the fans and will be able to see what it is like in the south lots prior to kickoff - something they probably haven't seen before.

Seems to me like a lot of hoopla when IMO the boys should be concentrating on the upcoming game, not traveling around all over campus.

ND nation is a bunch of whiny schoolgirls.

The walk from the library down into the stadium is going to be insane.

Players & Recruits are going to eat this up.

I does seem like a lot of hoopla. I thought about that too. But then after the walk, they go into the locker room to get focused. This is going to be awesome. How pumped is everyone going to be (team/fans/coaches) after walking through the crowd like that? Talk about building relationship and connections between fans and team. This will be the home field advantage.

Plus, I knew we were on the right road, but after watching those Kelly speeches and the locker room scenes, man, the rest of the NCAA better get on notice.

I was thinking this would be a lot on the the players before a game but really, its pretty early in the day. They will be able to loosen up, not be so stressed, see all the fans that are there to support them and maybe get a few kicks out of some of the tailgaters. I find it as more of a move to ease the mood. When 1:30 comes ... thats when they will buckle down mentally. I am pumped!! Great move BK!

Even as one of the "old guys" and "traditionalists" on this board, I think this is great. I can't imagine how pumped up this would make me if I was a player--seeing the whole campus alive with crazy fans, while at the same time helping me to loosen up a little bit.

I'm thinking about going out and finding a good spot facing the library to get pictures of the team when they are walking towards the stadium along the reflecting pool with TD Jesus in the background. I think that would be a really good photo op. If I get my lazy butt out there to do this, I'll try to figure out how to post them on here. Probably a bunch of others with the same idea.

If they have a police escort from the basilica to the Gug, that will be a 3-5 minute drive tops.

"Seems to me like a lot of hoopla when IMO the boys should be concentrating on the upcoming game, not traveling around all over campus."

College Football is an emotional game. To have the fans lined up on there way to the Gug and to the stadium will amp the players and the fans and hopefully build the energy so that come game time, the stadium will be electric.

Plus, the extra time in the Gug will give them a better environment to focus for the game anyway.

Didn't they used to walk from the basilica to the stadium and stay in there for 2+ hours?

I like that Kelly is taking the players past some things to remind them of what their fighting for, Notre Dame.

By this I mean, he is making sure to take them through the "God, Country, Notre Dame" doorway, past the statue of Father Joyce and Father Hesburgh, under the gaze of TD Jesus, and of course through the crowds of fans who love Notre Dame and Notre Dame football. They will certainly remember that they owe Notre Dame and not the other way around.

I certainly like it.

Well, of course...they don't like football.

Everything is subservient to their opinions.

And that includes ND winning football games.

I'm still new to this site and trying to play catch-up on a lot of the inside jokes. Without going into gory details - what is the deal with ND Nation?

ND Nation is a separate website dedicated to following ND athletics. When we make fun of it here, we're usually referring to the people who regularly post on its message board.

They're fire-worshipping Luddites who constantly complain about the football program. They cling to a romanticized (and frequently inaccurate) vision of ND's football glory days. The board culture is relentlessly negative; they take great joy in running off anyone who expresses optimism about the team, no matter how well founded.

It's occasionally good for a laugh, but you should otherwise avoid it.
