My opinion may not carry much weight around here haha, but I'm COMPLETELY satisfied with the receivers we have on board right now!!! Dieter doesn't show me what our committs now do.... Add in a slot guy or two (which Dieter is not) and I'll be thrilled. D

Bloomington North is not good. 373 is quite a feat...but for a 5A school they are pretty shoddy this fall. I see them maybe going 2-7 or 3-6 this year at best.

In his defense, just because it was an easy 373 doesn't make him a bad player. We at least know he can catch.

It is noticeable though that most, if not all, of the information available on him seems to be the product of self/family promotion rather than by neutral third-parties. I have yet to see any sports media nickname him "4 Loko".

Theoretically, if I were a high school coach and my team was playing this team, I'd game plan to try and stop the highly recruited and more talented player and try to make someone else beat me. I guarantee the other team was more worried about the big time ND commit than the kid with a few MAC offers. From now on, we'll see what Dieter is made of because he has proven himself worthy of more defensive attention after this monster performance.

For real, do you guys not realize that defense was also trying to stop BOOM Perkins? There's a reason Dieter got so open.

Also keep in mind that all of Dieter's vids look a bit slow when compared to west coast videos. Dieter runs in the 4.4s according to his father though.

Note: Aren't Four Lokos an alcoholic beverage? I'm pretty sure I had one of those at a party last year.

Yes to the bolded part and it is banned at some local campus cities and I read they are banned at others across the US.

But on Deiter, like many have said there is a reason a BCS school has not offered yet. Who really knows the reason besides the coaches and maybe Dieter himself from the coaches? Bloomington North is not a good team. Indiana highschool football as a whole is not that competitive. Like I mentioned in a post awhile ago, I went to school with a RB that ran for 400 yards in the Regional game of the state tournament. He had no offer from BCS schools. He just caught a team by storm and racked up yards.

The only team on their regular season schedule that will give them tough time is Penn, they also play a team from Illinois but not sure about them.

If he keeps these "sick" numbers up all season, then he is more than deserving but let him have some consistency of dominate numbers and shine in the state tournament.

Looks like John Goodman part deux. I'm fine with holding the offer for now.

I had the same reaction to that video.... it looked like the defense was running through cement.

Let's trust Kelly's staff over our own overreactions.

Soo he had just another day at the office 11 catches for 344.

HAHAHAHA ... how bad was the defense this time? I don't wanna take anything away from the kid, its still great. Pull that against a legit team and I will believe he is prime ND esque. That first video was bad.

Last video was bad but not his fault the other team couldn't tackle. Would love to see the film from this one. Hope it gets posted.

Maybe he is just good? I mean Perkins isn't putting up these numbers and we are all high on him.

I'm interested to see how he does against his tougher conference foes like Penn, SB St. Joseph, and Mishawaka.

uhhhhhh........

Perkins basically had 200+ and 3 TDs last week except a 97 yarder was called back on a BOGUS call.

And Perkins had 3 TDs this week. Not sure on yardage yet. So yeah, Perkins is putting up some pretty crazy numbers for the fact that he is playing full time both ways and as focused on defense as he is on offense. Dieter plays some defense, but doesn't expend nearly as much focus/energy on that side of the ball.

Perkins touched the ball 8 times for 126 yards. He may have touched it 12 times for 200 yds if they didn't just throw it up for Dieter. The kid is good. I got that. Two kids gained 500 yards in 15 touches! That team was horrible on defense is all im saying.

Didn't catch your post LAX. My bad. I wasn't aware of a 97 yarder called back. I can't find Perkins stats on tonight anywhere. Any idea how many yards he rushed for?

This is high school, stats do not mean everything. Dieter puts up big stats in high school for several reasons.
1.) he plays in northern indiana which isnt exactly top competition
2.) The team he is on forces the ball to him 15-20
3.) He is a 6'3 receiver catches passes on corners who will not be playing any football after high school.

Perkins doesnt put up the same stats on offense bc he plays full time on defense. Dieter isnt as highly rated bc he does great against poor competition. Perkins was going to camps this summer and dominating against the best players in the country. Its not just a fluke that everyone has Perkins rated as a better prospect.

Holy crap.....offer.

The staff has cooled on most of the remaining outside receiver prospects. For example, we've heard almost nothing from Amara Darboh since April, when he nearly committed at the spring game. We're finished there. We'll take a slot and call it a day (probably Ian Thomas).

I was At the Michigan city game and Dieter was a man among boys. he simply out jumped the DB's for the ball and run over them for the touchdown. He caught a 80 yard touchdown right before half time he out jumped the DB and ran over anthor one to score as time expired. I came away very impressed with Dieter he was constantly catching the ball at its highest point and made several moves to score. Now Michigan City is not a powerhouse but they have pretty good athletes but i agree i would have to see him against some better school before getting over hyped on this kid.

Also MC try to play him one on one for the first half but then doulble him in the second half. Dieter had a 180 recieving in the first half.

They play Penn and Mishawaka later in the season. Penn and Mishawaka played each other last night, Penn won 31-14. Dieter should still put up good numbers, just not what he has been doing the last 2 weeks. Perkins will have a good game against Penn. Their QB likes to roll to his left and thats the side David plays. David will eat him up every time.

Kid looks consistant, can't blame him for who they play or the fact that Perkins keeps the D honest with the threat of a run

Both of these kids, Dave and Gehrig are playing both ways and special teams. They are both playing their hearts out and leaving it all on the field. They can't help what conference that they play in, which is the same conference that Daniel Smith came out of. GD is on pace to erase his career record. I have been at both of their games and see what film doesn't show. Both of these kids are outstanding TEAM players, that are working with the youngsters in warm ups etc. Give these kids a break and let them play football.

Im not saying these boys, GD especially, can't play good ball. I also can't speak for others on here but his numbers are incredible! I personally would like to see what he can do against a solid defense. The kid hard and plays the ball very well. Does he go down easy? Does he block a physical CB on runs? Can he run a better route than an athletic CB can cover? How does he play and react to adversity? The kid is well on his way to proving his worth. I just want to see it because he very well could he ours. I would love to see him make BK say, " We don't need another outside guy but we can't pass on this kid." I only wish him the best every week.

Since you brought it up, Daniel Smith had ~1300 yards, 21 YPC, 9 TDs, and 7 INTs his senior year at Clay, and yet he's likely to get passed by true freshman Daniels, thereby dropping off the two-deep, early in this season.

Most of us here like Big 'Rig a lot, but it's difficult to draw any conclusions about his individual skill from his high school production when he plays against such terrible competition. There's a reason Dieter doesn't has any offers from competitive programs yet.

Funny that the same posters have no problem touting Perkins as a stud when he plays against the same alleged "soft" competition. Perkins should be running for 300 yds/gm as the opposition's tackling is reported on this site to be so bad. One could also reasonably note that the reason Perkings is getting 7 or 8 yds a carry is because Dieter's success vertically prevents the defense from dealing with the running threat.

One could say that HS uses the pass to open up the run. It cuts both ways.

The difference is that Perkins went to "The Opening" and preformed at a very high level against top competition. Dieter didn't get that opportunity so we don't know how he would perfrom in that situation.
