First, I want to say that I hope that I am not stepping on anyone's toes by starting this thread, I have posted elsewhere, and have gotten "This is person X's job, sorry we aren't answering".
With that being said, how do you guys see the game going? When do you see ND banging off the rust, and getting in gear? Final score? Players of the game?...etc
I will start by saying that I do not see Notre Dame looking past this game. By all accounts, ND seems to be focused, and primed to get the season rolling. Also, Skip Holtz is coming to town, and taking the field against a team the his father served as commander and chief, and accomplished a few good things. I don't see how our boys are going to look past this game.
I think ND uses Cierre Wood for the first quarter to settle the team in, and shake the opening day jitters. Jonas Gray scores the first TD, and Ruffer starts another streak. ND's defense has a few hiccups due to confusion, and SF gets a FG. The Irish go into the half up 10-3.
BJ starts the second quarter with an INT due to an ill advised pass while under duress . ND sticks to the game plan, and Cierre Wood takes 15+yrd carry to the house. ND 17-SF-3.
ND's defense stands tall, and mid-way through the second quarter BK opens up the play book, and MF inches closer to the record books putting ND up 24-3. SF gets 3 and enters the half down 24-6.
2nd half: ND comes out strong, and Ruffer hits his 2nd of the game putting ND up 27-6. SF scrapes out a TD, and gets 10 unanswered points making it 27-16 late in the third. Theo Riddick comes up big, and puts the game out of reach 34-16. Ruffer hits another FG. And ND's defense shuts SF out til the closing mintues when SF gets some garbage points.
ND wins 37-23.
Crist finishes 17-22 2Td's
C.Wood: 113 Yards on 20 carries
KLM gets player of the game, as he is key in holding BJ to 35 yards rushing on 9 attempts. Plus 2 sacks
