I have been working since I was 14. First as a waitress, then in patient registration in the ER in South Bend. After I got my degree in nursing I decided to continue working in South Bend. I've worked in Internal Medicine, and now Oncology. I run chemotherapy for cancer patients. I love every second of my job and most people think I'm crazy when I say that. There's a lot of sadnessof course, but people in that situation are so positive and upbeat a real inspiration.

Currently working as an Assistant Director on the feature film "The Hunger Games", based on the book of the same title, in Asheville/Charlotte, NC.

That is awesome! I taught 8th grade literature for the first time last year, so last summer I research books that would be good to read aloud to them and came across The Hunger Games. It was a fast, great read. Read it to my students who had no idea what it was nor that it was about to become the next "Twilight" (never saw it nor read it), and they LOVED it. I mean, they absolutely flipped. They would actually be pissed when I'd stop reading (always leave them on a cliff hanger, wanting more LOL). It was incredible to see 14 yr old kids actually look forward to me reading to them.

So this year, since the movie is coming out, I'm going to read it to my 7th and 8th graders as well. Now I'm going to be able to tell them that one of my best friends in the world (UmphreakDomer) is working on the movie LOL. Any inside dirt...PM me bro!

Were you in on the design of the USS Ronald Reagan? The reason I ask is that I had pre-commissioning duty there.

Born in raised in Canton, Ohio and went to school at John Carroll University (graduate of '09), a Jesuit school on the east side of Cleveland. Met my wife there and have been married for almost 8 months. I have a degree in history education and will have my Master's degree in special education in May. I have taught two years of special ed since graduating and love it. Parents were raised Catholic and my mom worked at Notre Dame when my parents first got married. Been an Irish fan since the day I was born.

Accounting (minor in Medieval Studies)/MSA at ND... CPA, working in DC for the Big4. Hoping to get an MBA in the next 3-4 years.

While I loved/love ND, I am hating these student loans... had multiple free rides back in Texas that I gave up. Oh well, #1 business school ain't bad nor is a Top 10 accounting graduate program.

You may be thinking "why Medieval Studies" -- I was already doing accounting, why not pick the next most boring minor! But seriously, it's the best program for it in North America and ND is just about the coolest place to take a Medieval history class. Seriously. It's the next best thing to take if you're into architecture/art/history if you don't want to major in those things. You also get your own Medieval graduation ceremony, which is cool if you're nerdy like me.

Well done!

Hmmm... perhaps you should change your nic to Rhode Irish, Esq.

Haha. Yeah, I never thought I would do a trial. Came out of school doing all transactional stuff, but I was asked to work on putting together a defense in a commercial trial a while back and I loved it, so then I kept asking for my own trial. I finally got it and won it. Carpe diem! The emotions before, during and after the trial are as similar to sports as anything I have experienced in my adult life.

Anyway, this really isn't about my path, but it seemed like a decent place to share. I know everyone hates lawyers so I apologize for my excitement. But its a good feeling for me.

Graduated Tulane in '96 with a BA in English. Promptly drove to Los Angeles to pursue a career in entertainment. Hacked away at that for 10 years with small victories. Made some money as a model, did stand-up comedy, did a small commercial for European radio, and had some high level auditions that I never hit on. Got married and had a kid and realized I didn't want to struggle at acting anymore. Moved to Boise. 3 kids later I freelance write, wait tables, watch my kids during the day, and have been developing an entertainment/educational company for a few years which is part of my writing.

2004 ND Grad.
Did undergrad admissions at Maryland for 2 years.
Graduated from Maryland law in 2010.
Now I'm a judicial law clerk and struggling to find post-clerkship work. I really want to do the DCL program for the Coast Guard, which is their JAG program, but it's a long process.

Just the opposite here. Started out doing commercial litigation and hated it; just got moved to transactional last week.

Grats on the win!

I wish I had known that when I was at ND. I was a PLS major and sooo would have taken some MS classes, but I had no idea the dept. at ND was so good!

ND's collection of Medieval writings is incredible; a veritable treasure trove of rare and priceless tomes.

Never had the pleasure, unfortunately. Either had classicists like Reydams-Schills or poetry buffs like Weinfield.

In a dream world I would love to go back for a M.A., but feel like I need to put the J.D. that I've sunk so much money into to work!

went to Southern Illinois University to study broadcasting and journalism, with the hope of becoming a network reporter. After a couple of radio station jobs that ended when the format changed, I went into television production. Ran camera for sports (NASCAR, baseball, football, any sport). But the constant travel especially on weekends became too much if I was to have a family. So I moved into post-production as an editor and love it. Got the chance to travel to different parts of the world doing the Miss Universe Pageant. Have been nominated for 2 National EMMYS. And no just being nominated is not a reward in itself, it sucks to loose and sti at the same table as the winner. Did win 2 national sports EMMYs while working on the initial X-Games. So I guess it balanced out.

Nice. Saluki in the house. My aunt's husband (my uncle) is a Saluki. Very impressive to read about everyone's successes and plans.

Rhode, did you really say "thanks" to the GoldenITF for his offer of a prostate check?

Dude.

Ha that looks like no prostate check I've ever seen. I thought it was an 'attaboy' slap on the ***, in which case I stand by the thanks. I'm cool with that.
