I'd love to have Mahone. Having said that, even though we're thin at RB I'm not worried about filling the 2/3 spots at all. If we have a 10 win season, we'll fill the spots with the guys the staff wants. Wait til half of the recruits at the USC game committ on the spot.

Per DMBerk and ISD... Not making a decision on august 7 anymore. He's been on too much stress about this. He doesn't want to rush his decision.

Which is smart and responsible, I applaud him for that.

I'll give him until NSD to say he's Irish because I'm nice like that. Hell, I'll give him til July of next year even (ala Prestwood). ;)

Respect the decision to hold off. It's a big decision. Rather see him think it through then to have him commit to ND now only to decommit because he wasn't sure......not saying he would decommit but I hope you get my point.

This delay is probably in our favor. We were probably on the outside looking in but his mom convinced him to delay his decision until he can get to ND one more time and have a face to face with Kelly. Never a bad thing to have the mom on our side

I think the pressure that some of these kids face is immense and it would surely be a stressful time for just about anyone. As for William I think in his case he is doing the right thing and taking a step back to really think things through before making a commitment somewhere. i truly hope we end up getting this fine young man, but I would rather wait and him commit only after he is positive about his decision. It is still early in the recruiting process so there is no reason to rush a potentially life long decision if he is truly not ready. I also hope he gets a chance to make it back to South Bend and meet the coaches. It sounds like he loved Notre Dame as did his mom, so hopefully having a chance to sit down one on one with the coaching staff will sway him in our favor above the rest. Only time will tell, and until then he can take as long as he wants.

this decision makes me think he had either ND or penn st in mind and then visited Pitt and had a change of heart...this boads well for pitt imo

Could also bode well for us in the long haul. Maybe he decides to take his visits and comes back to South Bend again with his mother who obviously LOVED it, and he was quite impressed as well. It also gives him more time to meet Brian Kelly who we can all agree seems to be a pretty dynamic person and coach.

In the short term to me this just means that he has some favorites in mind, maybe one in particular, but he realized on his trip to Pitt that there are a lot of good schools out there and he needs to take a step back make sure he is 110% with his decision when it comes time to pick a school. Based on the things we read in the recent article about Will and his mother and the way he was brought up, I dont see this as the kind of kid that once he commits you have to worry about him waffling and taking visits etc. I think he just wants to do his due diligence and make sure he sees everything he needs to see before sitting down and really hammering out a decision.

Trying to visit in a couple weeks to "talk" with coach Kelly. One of the reasons he delayed his commitment.

This is great news. I think it just might be the thing that puts us over the top with him. Cant blame William at all.

I actually think we're sitting third... but that's just me.

I think you're right, it is just you. He is certainly not delaying his commitment to another school so that he can tell our coach face to face he is not coming here.

Lol. That is actually a good point there. IMO. I think he needs this face to face to confirm his gut feeling. I might be way off track but that is my feeling anyways. I think he wants us but is trying to make sure this is what he wants. Just my opinion.

....or he could want to talk to Coach Kelly because he is legitimately undecided.

I wonder how many ppl can say that #blessed

Just two of many pro Penn State tweets.... and then you have his teammates committing to Pitt and his recent visit there that went well and all his pro-Pitt retweeting....

I think his visit got ND in the mix... but I hardly think we went from out of the race to out in front winning and I have seen NOTHING to support the notion that ND leads or that he is going to commit here... haven't seen one pro-ND thing from him anywhere since his visit reaction and the story on ISD....

I think he was going to commit to Penn State, went to Pitt and liked it and realized he needs to take more time. Of course ND is in the race and we may land him... but I do not understand people who think we clearly lead.

It's like poker... got to play the player not your cards... and the story being painted doesn't fit ND leading but rather being in the mix with Pitt and Penn State.

Homers.

IMO, we're only going to get one of our Big 3 (Mahone, B. Marshall, Russell) and the other RB in this class will be an unoffered kid named David Smith.

Eh, I don't know about that. Maybe he really likes ND and the staff and feels it would be polite and more respectable to tell Kelly face to face he has decide to cut his list of three (ND, PSU, and Pitt) to two (PSU and Pitt).

I don't know fellas...I don't see a kid coming BACK to South Bend to talk to the Head Coach unless ND is in the final schools in contention. IMO he is returning to solidify his commitment to ND. Mark it!

I hope you are right. I think we are in desperate times for a running back.
