Have anyone of you been following the trends on coaching hires where the school hires someone who graduated from the school. Or is it a coincidence?

This is why there should be a 100 post minimum before someone is allowed to start a thread.

I have no idea what you are talking about.

lol I think he's talking about the trend of schools hiring alumni coaches over other coaches, but I don't think that's a new trend...

Not a very cool way to welcome someone to the board. The guy just wanted to get our opinion and before ya know it he leaves because he doesn't feel welcome.

Feel free to speak your mind brother. LOL

He has been here for 8 months, he has already been welcomed and his post is barely legible. I consider this site having higher standards than this thread.

but that's like... my opinion, man

Your initial response doesn't instill much of a sense of higher standard. It's ok not to share every opinion.

Schools like to hire alumni because those coaches already understand what a "Michigan" or "Colorado" used to represent. They know what the school expects, they understand the tradition, and they probably won't use it as a stepping stone.

I think the OP is implying that alumni coaches don't have the same success as outside hires do, but I really have NO IDEA.

*Phil Fulmer's 1998 Tennessee team was the last NC team that had an alumnus as their coach.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and suggest that being an alumni is, and has always been, a plus for any prospective coach.

Is it a trend? If the sun rising in the east is a trend, then yes.

Interesting point. But I think the practice of hiring Alums has been going on since college football started. Even more so (maybe) at the high school level.

Weis, Kuharich, Brennan, Devore, Leahy, Layden, Anderson, ROCKNE, were all ND students. Probably others (I'm sure the BGIF can fill in the blanks) but I'm too lazy to find the rest.

Can someone tell me the name of the Colorado coach because the hc and oc are graduates which are an example of this trend.

John Embree. Colorado tight end from the 80s. But you can find out for yourself by doing a quick google.
