When the people on our board start jumping off buildings, I'm sure other boards post the drama.

Enjoy the ride, gentlemen.

I find it funny that we laugh at other schools fans for being upset at this when this board has said far worse things when in the same situation.

People don't get away with posting crap like that here.

I haven't been around THAT long. I got here right after the Lynch saga. So...no comment.

Well really, I was reading the posts of the Lynch saga as an anonymous. But still...no comment.

I will never forget the day posters were talking about distance, family and location being a factor for Aaron. Then all of a sudden a new poster chimes in saying she go wherever and the board was suddenly paralysed. It was the strangest moments I have seen around here.

The only reason I signed up here was because Alice posed a question about how student athletes deal with academics and I wanted to share my 2 cents on the tutoring and other services available. In retrospect, that whole saga was an insanely wild ride... and nothing like it may happen ever again with ND football.

Its what every school says about every other school, because their school doesn't do anything shady.

This is the one thing about the internet that cracks me up, people all of a sudden develop "coconuts" while sitting behind a screen and keyboard.

And if you are going to argue with someone online, spell check please. You just make yourself look incompetent.

I found the board this was posted on and am about to smack this guy in the mouth...with words.

Have you read the entire thread yet? 3/4 of the posts are very respectful towards ND and Brian Kelly. Of course there are some knuckleheads - but have you read what some of our fans say on this site and other sites about Penn State and other schools, especially USC? We've got some highly misinformed fans as well, sadly.

People don't get away with posting crap like that here.

Oh sh!t like that has been posted, but we don't always get to it on time, and then we don't always delete those posts, because those are honest opinions, as crazy as that sounds. Yeah, that PSU guy was an a$$hat, and I almost signed up to to put that clown in his place, but there have been some a$$hats on IrishEnvy that have said some ridiculous things about other schools and their players as well (most of those guys eventually get banned for something or other, but their stupid posts could easily go viral before you know it, you know?). To our credit, many posters shoot those guys down right away. One common misconception of some ND fans is that ND and Stanford (and a few others) are the only schools that a player has the possibility of getting a quality education, which simply isn't true. Yes, we do a far better job of putting ALL football players in a better spot to graduate with a real degree, but there are scores of college athletes all over the nation getting great education.

And as mentioned, just go through the old Lynch, Hunter, Trattou, etc threads to see the wrath of ND fans.

Or, you can read the "ND/SEC" thread if you want to see how shallow, naive, and in some cases downright idiotic some ND fans can be...

That's mainly what I was getting at. Stupid crap gets posted occasionally, but the community does a pretty good job of shooting down baseless slander.

I agree, and when that argument is poorly articulated, it doesn't help our elitist image. However, it does have a factual basis. If you look at the 30-year ROI on undergrad degrees from BCS caliber schools, Stanford, Notre Dame, and Cal are in a class of their own. (USC and BC deserve mention as well.) So, if you look at graduation rates and what the degree is worth, ND has few peers among football schools; put another way, Notre Dame legally "compensates" its players better than any other BCS school excepting Stanford, and even there we're very close.

They are so scared of Brian Kelly. They know they are going to loose many more recruiting battles. Loving it.

"Notre Dame was sick. met alot of the players and coaches even Ishaq Williams and Manti T'eo. I love this place"

old news bro.

Right you are. I know that there were sources that said he liked his visit, but I didn't notice that someone had this exact quote until I looked at page 15 of this thread.

LOL...kinda ironic that you say that, considering that I just deleted your re-post of what the clown from PSU wrote. It was already posted (post #293), which prompted this whole discussion.

Just messing though bro - I was going to PM you why I deleted it, but saw an opening. Cheers...

He's not being recruited as a NT. He'll be a SDE like Tuitt if he ends up Irish.

While I get that, I have to imagine Diaco will find a way to get a guy this good on the field. It that means bumping Jones down to NG on third or obvious passing downs, he does it.

Any way you slice it, the DL is going to be gigantic and fierce in the future.

I hesitate to "hijack" a recruit's thread, especially since this is an oblique reference to a different recruit/student, but I want to make a very public, very clear statement that there are places where we shouldn't go, no matter the "who," "where," "when" or "why."

YouTube - ‪Strange Fruit‬‏

Follow the link, just do so on an empty stomach.

If you must use a catchy term, try BEASTie Boys or some such thing.

I contacted Aaron's mother, Alice, privately quite some time ago on this matter. She understands my position and agrees with it.

'Nuff said. End of discussion. Step away and move on.

I try to never say anything on a recruitment thread which could prejudice NDs chances of winning the battle for that athlete's services; small as the chances that any remark I make has influence are, it's still not team play to do so. But I have to make one little remark: Blacksburg, VA is not a sh!thole, nor is the university there. It is my brother's university and I have visited there with him; he plans on retiring there and I can see why. The university itself is not a sh!thole. One of my best friends was Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences there.

Jarron Jones should go to Notre Dame, there is no question about that. Our school is unique in ways which place it as an invaluable experience and asset for anyone's lifelong development. Some other schools might be sh!tholes [I'd have to look at that on a case-by-case basis] but I bet that few should be described in such terms. Virginia Tech and Blacksburg don't deserve the appellation.

Actually there aren't very many sh!tholes. It's too bad there aren't more really. (Sh!tholes) Then we wouldn't have to bear the long line of a$$holes waiting in line to use them.

Note, additional innocent characters were used (! $) to portray other characters. NO characters were hurt during this process. Please do not try this at home.

Hey speaking of characters, OMM and dshans, did I sum up everything?

Somebody else suggested that crude nickname about a year ago, not thinking of the history. In 1924 Notre Dame students broke up a Ku Klux Klan rally in South Bend. The Klan had gathered there to intimidate Catholic's. Also, Aaron's mother advised me that as a biracial man he found the term highly offensive.

It's not about being P.C.; it's about common decency.

Find another nickname.
