Well according to rivals i have Notre Dame in there besides UNC. Trust me.

I should have never doubted you grasshopper. The rivals guy that tweeted it put #NC and not #ND.

Fail.

I'm having a bit of a hard time here with comprehension (probably my issue, not yours). You're saying that rivals made a typo and mistakenly listed North Carolina as a finalist for Watkins instead of Notre Dame, but ND is actually a finalist and UNC is not, right?

That's how I read the saga.

Regardless, here's a quote from Watkins in this morning's AJC article entitled,

Jordan Watkins trims to 8: UGA, Alabama, Florida, LSU, Miami, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Stanford | AJC College Sports Recruiting

On Notre Dame:
“I’ve got a pretty good relationship with the coaches. I’d say Notre Dame was the last school to get in. It was really seven schools for me. I kept thinking about it. After talking more with the coaches, I decided to keep them in there and see if I can get an official in there somewhere. It’s the same thing about Notre Dame as Georgia — great education and, at the same time, they play some pretty good football.”

Watkins wants to major in broadcast journalism or communications. He dropped GT (childhood favorite) from his list because "Georgia Tech just didn't have a journalism major". Sound sincere.

He's already made visits to UGA, ALA, MIA, and UF. He'll see LSU and SU in July.

My final decision is definitely going to be after my senior season so I can take official visits to some of those places that didn’t get unofficial visits.

That should make ND and OU likely candidates for an Official Visit.

BTW, there's a Predication Poll with the article at the Link. As the AJC is a Atlanta paper no surprise UGA leads handily over the rest of the field. They have a 3 to 1 edge over #2 ND. (Just wait 'til JohnnyKillz gets wind of another Poll. He'll have his sneaker wearing horde chroming the ballot box.)

Chuck Martin is the ND Recruiter.

Kudos on creating a new verb.

Chrome, transitive verb, chromed | chroming: to vote repeatedly in an internet poll via Google Chrome.

Looks like ND made his Final 8. Along with OK, Ala., Fl., Ga., LSU,Miami and Stanford. Eliminated Ga. Tech because they did not have a Journalism Major apparently. Seems ND was last in, but at least we are in contention. Now it is up to the Coaching Staff to close the deal.

Thanks! You saved us the trouble of reading the last handful of posts in this thread that were posted a few days ago saying the same thing!

^Sorry. Just trying to make the point. You're right. Could've/Should've been nicer about it.

I dont know, I am far from the moral authority. But I think that sarcasm is totally appropriate when showing newberts the protocal. We cannot be enablers of poor posting. Sherm is the kindler, gentler type of poster. Thats ok too.

tough love. tough love.

I'll take the newbie posting old news over a veteran asking for "any updates, what's the update huh huh" anyday (guilty).

DT Jordan Watkins narrows down to 3: UGA, Florida and Stanford | AJC College Sports Recruiting

August 17, 2011, by Michael Carvell, AJC

...

Which schools are the finalists? It’s UGA, Florida and Stanford.

Scratched off the shortlist are Miami, Alabama, LSU, Notre Dame and Oklahoma.

“It’s those three because they are all great schools athletically and academically,” Watkins told the AJC. “That helped them stand out among the top eight. Of course, with some of the other schools dealing with NCAA allegations (Miami), that made it a little easier to get to three.”

...

The 6-foot-5, 268-pound Watkins said he plans to take official visits to all three schools within the next three months, but he will wait until after his senior season to announce his college decision. “I’m focused on my high school team now and trying to win a state championship,” Watkins said. “I won’t have time to think about and decide on a college until the season is over. ...

scary thing is if he picks georgia and they have a bad year, which i think is very possible, he may end up at stanford anyway...who knows that may be the only thing he's waiting on to decide.

What if Stanford has a bad year? I think people underestimate how many wins were because of Harbaugh.

don't underestimate me...i agree, but with Luck at QB for another year i don't think they'll have that bad of year.

Because of the hype that last year's Stanford team made I meant bad year as in ~8 wins. I could see that happening.
