Seems like a strange place to want to inject yourself into at the moment. Maybe he did not have a lot of options and it is close to where he grew up. Still, if I were a recruit or someone looking to transfer, WVU would be radioactive to me right now.

It's close to home and one of the better teams in the big east...

I'd assume that's the logic

It shocks me how many heralded recruits have disappeared in the past few years. Good look to Steve, I thought he'd see the field one way or another.

I dont understand why WVU would be radioactive? They have a solid defense every year. Its the offense that has lacked since dickrod left, enter holgerson.

Stewart and Holgorsen are at each other's throats. Getting very ugly.

North Xtra: Paskorz to play fifth year at WVU; Hampton graduate leaves Notre Dame
July 28, 2011
By Sam Werner, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

For most fifth-year seniors, this time of year is about settling back into old routines.

For Steve Paskorz, though, this summer has been a whole new experience.

Paskorz joins the West Virginia University football team this season as a transfer from Notre Dame. Because he has earned his bachelor's degree, he is eligible to play immediately for the Mountaineers.

When Notre Dame sent out invitations to potential fifth-year players in January, Paskorz was not on the list. Once he learned that his career with the Irish was over, he said his father began contacting schools as potential transfer locations.

...

Paskorz saw action in 12 games over two seasons with the Irish, playing fullback and linebacker. Last fall, Paskorz was in the mix for playing time at inside linebacker before a torn ACL sidelined him for the season.

...

Even though things may not have worked out as Paskorz planned on the football field, he said he appreciated his time at Notre Dame. He graduated in May with a bachelor's degree in marketing from the unversity's Mendoza College of Business, which BusinessWeek ranked as the nation's No. 1 undergraduate business college.

"[Getting that diploma] means a lot," Paskorz said. "It's going to open up a lot of doors for me in the future."

Paskorz was looking to WVU as a place to play before he picked ND [Pittsburgh area is his home]. WVU has a terrific chance to be good this year and their defensive staff is in place. The WVU 3-3-5 of Jeff Casteel is not that much different from the Diaco 3-4-4 and Paskorz has already said that he is comfortable with the system. [two of the 3-3-5's DBs "cheat" and play like quasi-linebackers in a 3-4-4].

Paskorz' chances to play got a little better the other day when a competing WVU linebacker got arrested for robbery with a weapon. WVU needs some ND civilizing influence badly. Still, Paskorz says that everybody has been very welcoming of him, so hopefully one of our old warriors gets a chance to shine.
