Rivals reports that he was visited in his school be TE coach Mike Denbrock. Listed as a 4 star by scout and the #1 junior running back from California.

Received his offer today but it is dependent on him taking foreign language classes as a senior to pass admissions

More word on this kid? Is he going to take a foreign language so he can come to ND? :)

Summary:

Will cut his list down soon and expects ND to be in the mix
Strong academics-strong coaching staff-social life that fits him are key factors
His older brother is a team-leading running back at ASU
Talks to Coach Denbrock a lot - has a "great relationship" with him
Loves the the great education and graduate percentage the team has
Also likes how it is a religious school
Likes the offense that ND runs - spread offense version of a pro-style offense with a single back
Will sit down with pops and decide what schools they will visit in the summer ---don't know which ones but is optimistic ND will get one.

This explains what we've read recently better...

Interesting this Marshall still wants it.

Do we have 2 Marshalls interested?

BYRON MARSHALL

Would be a great addition---

Very fast 4.38 as a soph---good hands and tough to bring down.

Same speed as GEORGE III
As a sophomore he finished 3rd in the 60 meters at the National
Indoor Track Championships----and------was the Calif long jump
champ at 23'4".

A great addition----
his one fault as a 15 year old he was thrown out of a game for taunting---
he has aged since and his intelligence would tell him that he would never do that
on a BRIAN KELLY team. Splinters from the bench can be painful.

The new rule going into effect will stop that on its own. Would be a nice get.

Hah, I got thrown out of a winter league lacrosse game for fighting when I was 16.... doesn't mean I've stepped so much as a toe out of line in any other aspect of my life. I think you'd be hard pressed to take one little thing that happened when he was 15 and turn it into a "character issue"... at that age it's all about teaching moments and learning.

I hope he takes that language class and ends up Irish. I think he has a ton of potential in our offense.

This guy reminds me of Armando coming out of HS. I'd love for the Irish to get him.

Other than his nice speed, I really like the power this kid runs with. On most of his plays he's dragging kids for an extra 10 yards.

Says Cal, ND, Oregon recruiting him the hardest. Might set up a visit this summer with pops. Really likes Notre Dame, and if there is one team to pull him out of the west coast it could be us. He is also taking a summer foreign language class that he needs to get into ND. Finally some good running back news besides Kimbrow. We are a real player here.

I think this is a GREAT sign! If he didn't have genuine interest in ND, he most likely wouldn't be taking a foreign language class, and over the summer no less. The kid wants this ND offer it seems!

The only thing I saw in his highlight film was that he seems to run pretty upright and occasionally doesn't protect the ball as well as he can. However, those are things that the coaching staff address LONG before he sees the field, so I'm not too concerned.

Other than that, the kid knows how to find the hole, follows his blocks and hits the open field with an explosion! I really like this one and would be MORE than happy to have him as our #1 RB recruit this cycle.

YES, YES, YES!!!

That's fantastic news! We definitely have a shot if he is willing to go that far.

Kelly & Co. pull it off! I like this kid a lot!

Im very high on Marshall. I think he is a stud and would be the best back with interest in ND outside of Keith Marshall.

I hope that our California kids are in this kids ear. Hopefully BK and staff offer this kid at the right time to get him to pop.

ESPN Ranking RBs
Byron Marshall (San Jose, Calif./Valley Christian) was one of the more scrutinized running backs during our 150 film review. No question his versatility and speed are some of the best in this class; his ability to produce between the tackles as an every-down college back was debated.

Interesting. Perhaps that plays in our favor, because we don't need him to be an every-down between-the-tackles RB.

I think he could be an every down back, but that's just me. I'm no expert.
