I kind of have a bit of an inside story on this... i dont know if i have shared this yet, but anyway-

My girlfriend's friend dates Tate. She recently moved to Grand Rapids and he moved there with her. He has distanced himself from his family to the point where they are completely unable to contact him. His dad is one of those guys who raised his kids waiting for one of them to be a stud athlete. He has contacted my girlfriends friend blaming her for tate leaving UofM and had a few arguments about Tate. But the real scoop here is that this news has been a long time coming. He lives with his girlfriend in her apartment and supposedly does quite a bit of smoking and very little football related activities.

Just thought I would share.

That's what happens when the parents have bigger ambitions then the kid. The kid has to love playing the game and dedicate himself fully to it, otherwise it's just not worth it.

This makes me even more upset about the Michigan game in 2009 (which I was in attendance for). People were sipping on the Tate Forcier Koo-Aid like he was the Tebow of the Midwest. There was even a forcier4heisman.com, I can at least now take solace in the fact that his football career has crumbled.

I'm not a Tate fan. But the destruction of his relationship with his family is sad to me. He couldn't control the way he may have been raised or the expectations his father may have put on him. Being a single father of 2 wonderful children I, and my children, often struggle with the lack of relationship they have with their mother at their young age. I can't imagine being of college age and breaking from your family. Hell I can't imagine it at any age. I wish him well in life.

OK..... So the kid is either mentally unstable or lacking a fundamental understanding of geography.

As much as we joke about our foes' stumblings, I think we never wish harm upon them. I pray for the guy and hope this wasn't a suicide attempt but just a misunderstanding. I hope he gets everything sorted and honestly wish him the best.
