Gonna say we don't get either Maty or Gunner. Spring game did not help our depth chart look any smaller. I think the staff is moving on

I think you might be right. I don't think we get either one and we might just not take a quarterback in this class, who knows? I do know this though, We have 4 good quarterbacks on this roster and the competition is intense. I think for Mauk and Kiel, there are better opportunities for early playing time elsewhere.

BUT I SPENT HOURS ON THE MAUK-KIEL DEBATE THREAD!!!!

But yeah man, it's crazy how the little we hear out of Maty's camp since the spring game. Golson flying around like Charlie Ward and Hendrix being athletic and slippery in a Tebow type of way (not saying he's Tebow!!!) and both with 4 yrs of eligibility left (plus Rees' 3 yrs) probably didn't help QB recruiting this year.

Why?

We have a former 5 star recruit, and a guy who won 4 games as the first and second string.

We also have 2 more guys that are perfect fits for our offense with 4 years of eligibility remaining.

We don't really need a QB this cycle.

I think he is saying the same thing as you TT... he will not be disappointed if we don't take a QB this year.

As much as I would love to see the Irish land Kiel, I agree w/ you! I just pray that he doesn't go "skunkbear" on us!

I will be more disappointed if we start to miss on some of the RB's we are targeting.

Why not just go for the QB out of So Cal that wants to come to ND? If we need to take a QB

Has Gunner confirmed this? Every place I see this refers to a tweet from DGdestroys? I'm not saying that its not true, but I would expect this to be confirmed by other sources than a tweet by now.

Either way, I don't think my heart could take seeing Gunner in a winged helmet.

Btw, this has still not been confirmed by Gunner and Rivals and Scout have not updated their list.

Also, @DgDestroys is still the only person saying this, and he is a scUM supporter. Dg stands for Devin Gardner...

Denial can be an ugly thing.

I'm not saying that I think we lead for him or anything, i'm just saying that I am backing off of the ledge. I think too many people are jumping ship because of a random tweet from a scUM fan.

QB is not a concern with this class to me, I like who we currently have. After this year Dayne will have another year (if he comes back), Rees 2 more years, Hendrix 3 more, and Golson 3 or 4 more. Any QB who would commit to this class would redshirt. Godspeed to getting a QB for the 2012 class.

thanks for the read...i don't like the sound of that. sounds like Michigan is in good shape and they've got a lot of recruiting momentum.

No kidding...from seeing what Hoke is doing it's making me start to miss RichRod..but time will tell what he will do with the talent he is starting to bring in.

I'm so sick of hearing how Hoke is going to recruit out of his socks. OOOhhhh gotta watch out for Hoke.. OOOOHHHHH

Blah blah blah Michigan. Boring. Boring Boring Boring.

It's not like Michigan was ever going to go into the cellar and stop getting elite level recruits. As much as we hate to admit it they did take the all time winning percentage from us.

The cupboard was bare when Hoke got there, especially on defense, and he needs a pro style quarterback for his system. As beryirish said, only time will tell if he can convert the talent into on field success.

I don't know if it has been mentioned before, but Michigan has already gotten an Elite Eleven QB commitment for 2013. This could affect the thinking of whoever is considering them for 2012.

Gunner Kiel, a year more mature than the gentlemen you speak of, certainly would have a better shot and a year of run time prior to the next kid in line in your scenario.

I wouldn't think this to cause him to shy away.

My prediction: Kiel will succeed Landry Jones at Oklahoma. Landry may be gone this year, but more than likely he'll play one more year before he goes as a first round draft pick.

with the lack of depth Mich. has at the QB position i would expect them to go after a QB or two the next few years...so if he doesn't like competition he is in the wrong business.

Same goes for if he goes to Norman...they, like other powerhouses, are going to go after the top QB in the nation every year regardless of need. when you play at schools like that you better be prepared to compete.
