I expect this kid is probably really solid with Stanford. He seems like a really great kid with a real good head on his shoulders. At least he went to a great school academically. Stanford is a great school, it's just unfortunate we play them every year.

I fully expect him to stick with his Stanford commitment, however, I certainly wouldn't complain if he were to end up signing with us.

I don't think it will take much for Stanford to fall back to Duke-west status. I think a bad season (a Luck injury) could send their recruits fleeing. Stanford is a great school, but so is Duke. Just get Stanford to look like Harbaugh was that entire program and it should fall apart pretty quickly in my opinion. Duke went through a similar situation when Steve Spurrier was their coach. He left and they resumed their typical seasons.

Stanford has a cake schedule early on, but they could lose to Southern Cal (in LA), Notre Dame, and Oregon easily. With God's help, hopefully one or two more as the Irish go 12-0 :) , although on a serious note I would hope the big man doesn't give a ****.

We should have recruited him to be Teo's replacement/sidekick. OLB is stacked and he is THE nationa's elite tackling machine. I wouldnt be surprised to see him transition inside and ND's recruiting him as such would have distinguished us from the pack and showed him that we are forward thinking position wise.

Was likely always going back to California. Said in an early interview months before recruiting heated up that he wanted to go back to the west coast for school. Would be interested to see if he takes an official visit, but I'm very pessimistic about our chance of getting him or Odenigbo. I think they're both basically Stanford locks for the reason you mentioned... depth at OLB.

Found this on a USC website. Noor Davis visited USC last week, in addition to both Stanford and UCLA, during a trip to California.
The linebacker had positive things to say about both Los Angeles schools.

"They're both great schools; the coaches are all excellent and the location in Los Angeles is great," he said.

But Davis raved about his visit to Stanford. It was the first time he'd been on the campus after committing to the school this past spring.

"It was even better than I expected," he said. "They treated my family and myself with the utmost. They took us around the campus and showed us everything.

"[My visit] solidified my commitment to Stanford, but my father still wants me to take all of my official visits," Davis continued. "But I'm very comfortable with Stanford and I was able to develop an even greater relationship with the coaching staff and Coach Shaw while I was there. I don't see anything changing my mind."

Davis said he hasn't narrowed down the schools that will receive official visits from him, but there are only four spots remaining, as he said Stanford will definitely get one. Davis added that he is currently working on his Stanford application and will be sending it out next week.

Sounds like he's really into Stanford, and it also sounds like ND better be all over him to get one of those visits. However, like LAX (I think) said, the west coast looks tough to beat for him, and that weather thing will be an issue for him.

“@RivalsCNee: With regards to Noor Davis and other visits, from the chat, just need to clarify that other visits won't be for fun, as I said.”

“@RivalsCNee: Instead, his parents have encouraged Davis to take other officials to be 100% certain before NSD. At this time, no visits have been set.”

my wild guess is that when it's all said and done he's Irish.

My reasoning is none other than the last few years ND has taken a few Stanford commits and vice versa.

I personally think he'll stick with Stanford. He took out a whole page in the newspaper explaining why he choose the Trees. Doesn't sound like a flipper dipper to me.

If he is happy, then I am happy for him. I am not happy for us in that we will have to see him for the next few years though.
Good to see a kid sticking with his commitment, AND listening to his parents to keep an open (if somewhat tinted) eye open to other schools.

Top prospects looking?

By Barton Simmons

Noor Davis

Commitment: Stanford (5/13/2011)

Finalists: Florida, Notre Dame, USC, Alabama
Commitment quote: “Stanford is the best fit for me as a student-athlete. They have a tremendous football program that is nationally ranked and there is a great support system for the athletes. It’s also a challenging academic institution where I plan on eventually earning a Masters degree in business.”
Biggest threat: USC
Reason for concern: Despite his commitment to Stanford, Davis has scheduled official visits to USC and Alabama and has taken an unofficial visit to Florida.
Reason for optimism: Davis, a four-star prospect and the No. 2 outside linebacker in the country, never hid the fact that he planned on taking visits, so this is no surprise to the Cardinal.
Our take: Davis is a prospect that puts a very high emphasis on academics, making Stanford’s prestigious reputation very appealing. The distance shouldn’t be a factor because he has family in California. Furthermore, the continued on-the-field success for Stanford coupled with Davis’ continued statements that his commitment is firm should all be enough to keep him on track for Palo Alto.

Was at Alabama this past weekend.

“It was fun and a great experience. It was an extremely competitive game and it was a unique environment.”

Will be at Auburn on November 19th and USC on November 26th
