Not apples and apples. First, Davis has said this commitment = shutting down recruiting, so it'd be very weird if he picked a place he had never seen if that's truly his intent. It'd just be very weird to say "I'm done, recruiting is finished" and then maybe go on an OV and hate the place.... what then?
Tee and Jalen are two very different recruits, but one thing in common is that they never took that kind of approach to things.
There's been more guys that have committed without visiting. Utopo did the same thing...and he signed with ND.
And Lax, you should know that just b/c a kid says he's done with recruiting, doesn't mean he's done with recruiting. Remember Chris Martin? Man, when he committed, I bought ALL of his b.s. about telling coaches he was a solid as a rock and that he wouldn't take their calls. Remember Prestwood? Great kid, LOVED Notre Dame, told us all that he would tell the other coaches that he wouldn't talk to them because he was solid to ND, and a few months later he was a Seminole. And what about Burton last year? Told the ND coaches it didn't matter if FL offered - he was sticking to ND. Florida finally offered, and 2 days later he pledged to FL.
And on the flip side, we get 'solid verbals' at other schools to flip to ND as well. I won't believe anything until NSD. Been burned too many times.
So him committing to a great school like Stanford without visiting doesn't faze me at all. Good for him, if that's what he wants to be about. If he goes to USC though...now that would be a shame. And I don't say this b/c of my hatred for SC - I say this because of the sanctions, because of the AWFUL head coach, because of how sh!tty of a fanbase they are, especially when they are bad. USC can offer him a great education, but he won't be around players that have the same affinity for knowledge/education that he has. Stanford and ND offer that.
But I still say FL. I have access to a USC pay site, and their mods/fans are mum about him going to SC. They are
somewhat hopeful, but they know they are a longshot.
