Visit only solidified his decision. Talked to all the coaches and plans to talk to admissions about possibly becoming an EE

Love it!!!! would be great to get him on campus competing right away...would put him in great position to crack at least the two deep as a freshman.

Agree with you on this!! Get him in class as soon as possible. Maybe we can get Darby in class early too. I think both of these kids are going to be great. God only knows the potential is unlimited with these two kids.

Darby is already planning on being an EE. Tee is trying to now join him.

That is absolute music to my ears. No way these guys couldn't play as true freshman if they can get involved in Spring ball.

There is no doubt Darby will be playing as a freshman. He will make immediate impact as kick and punt return as a true freshman.

Don't know about playing as a freshman. Certainly he could be a special teams threat, but we loaded up at DB this past season as well. Jackson, Wood, Atkinson, Hardy, Brown, Farley, Darby, and Shepard give us a lot of flexibility.

That's one hell of a line up at the DB position. I am very, very excited for the future of this football team!!!

I agree he may not be needed at DB his freshman season, but he should be a top KR and PR option the moment he steps on campus. He could potentially be our best return man in a while. Similar to another #25, perhaps?

When they are Freshman the only upperclassmen CBs will be Bennett Jackson (who shouldn't count because this is his first season at the position) and Lo Wood. Neither of them will have any experience as a starter.

Can they beat out Jalen Brown and Atkinson are the only two sure CBs; Farley and Hardy could play S. If they are EEs and get the extra reps/time to compete... I would not be surprised at all to see them starting much less contributing. There are no studs with experience on the roster, and at least on paper these two are absolutely elite prospects.

If these two young supermen can get early enrollment...wow, I'm really liking how the pieces are falling together. Youngsters!! Come early and play behind Manti, Fleming, Spond, Nix, Shembo, Tuitt, Counsell, and all those destroyers in the front seven. Make a legend.

Just some footwork videos that get me really excited about Tee. The great thing to me is that our 2 stud CB recruits seem to compliment each other well with early skill set, with Tee very polished for a high school CB and should be ready early to contribute in the defensive backfield, with Darby is more raw with perhaps better (elite) athletic skills that should take some time to hone, while he is contributing on special teams. Not to mention the fact that they are both amazing young men who should benefit greatly from enrolling early:

Wants to be an engineer? Officially my new favorite player!

With that being said... I hope he realizes how much more work we have to do than other majors. And you can't "fake it" in engineering. Balancing that class load with any sport is tough... balancing it with football sounds like suicide.

good for him...if he's got that type of intellect he'll adjust very well, just goes to show the caliber of kid it takes to come to ND...i would hope that someday we will get rewarded for recruiting the right type of people who are true "student" athletes.

If Chris Stewart could do it with law school then I have confidence this kid could do it in engineering. Heck Stewart was probably an influence on him to do it.

I'm sure he can do it as he is hardly the first athlete to come through ND doing both engineering and a varsity sport.

However, there are literally hundreds of regular ND students that can't handle engineering and drop out after their first or second semester. It's exceedingly hard to balance the workload without the time commitments of a varsity sport. And for the record, Chris Stewart said it was the hardest thing he has ever done and would not try to do it again... and ask any engineer who's gone to law school, the workload is very comparable. Also, scheduling can become damn near impossible to work around your practices with 3 hour labs and a bunch of core classes that are only offered at one particular time. It's hard to comprehend just how difficult it really is until you've done it.

As long as he sticks with civil or mechanical he has a fighting chance. If he goes chemical or electrical... may God have mercy on his soul. I really love though that he wants to be an engineer and I hope he makes it. It's definitely the road less traveled.

My brother was an engineer while being a lineman [starting right guard] and the number one guy inhabiting the weight room at Virginia Tech. It helps a lot if you're really good at math. If you can quickly understand that part of it, and be alert and genuinely interested while in class, then it's not so bad. Admittedly, there was only one other engineering student in his group, but that guy succeeded well, too.

I am actually in the middle of earning my degree in Electrical Engineering and the very first professor I had told us that you should spend at the minimum of 40 hours a week on just engineering. So it is an awful lot of studying and school work. But if you are disciplined and able to play football and do engineering, then I would highly encourage it because it has great benefits after you graduate if football doesn't work out.

I'm a Mechanical Engineer and when I was in undergrad there was a formula my professors used to calculate the time necessary to be successful based on time in class and the time required out of class. Their formula 'stated' we should be spending 26 hours a day on engineering work. Never quite made sense to me haha.

Definitely can be accomplished and will be difficult but these are the guys we want our football team.

From Stanford's Nike Camp, under "Weekend's Best":

Shepard worked out at wide receiver during the event, but put on a great display of top-end athleticism for the entire event. He looked great in warm-ups, position drills, one-on-ones, you name it. Notre Dame is getting a stud in Shepard and No. 145 overall in the country, while a lofty position, may be too low after watching what he could do athletically on Sunday.
