I think we land this kid. We are TE U, after all. Plus, he kinda looks like Rudolph.

On another note, getting him would mean that we have the #1 TE, #1 CB, #1LS..... maybe a #1 QB? :makeadeal

It really will be a sad day in the bug household when/ if we don't get Kiel.

Noah Spence, #1 DE? Josh Garnett, #1 OG? Andrus Peat, #1 OT (Since I count Armstead as a DL), and dare I say DGB, #1 WR?

We are in good position with a ton of elite prospects. Let's go out and kill Sept. and we will be sitting pretty.

He looks like Rudolph, but I think he is more like Tyler right now than Kyle, in that he is faster and more of a pass catching TE than a balanced one with good bulk and blocking skills. He has a great frame to add weight and become an accomplished blocker, but right now he is more of a massive WR (which I am more than fine with lol). He is a huge want of mine.

Don't Forget we have Koyack coming in. But Kent Taylor is a heck of a football player

Definitely a great frame. His neck is the size of a Yule log and could probably support a keg.

Kelly's going to have to design 3 man tight end sets, 2 tight and 1 wide, just to get all this great talent on the field. TE is one position we could afford to miss on this year. We NEED a RB.

NEED is right. But we need more than just one RB. Multiple TE sets would be awesome though.

Per ESPN

Didn't make his Top 3

Florida-Florida St.-Penn State

So he eliminated Miami and ND out of his Top 5

I thought we were in good graces with him.

I wouldn't be heart-broken if we skipped on TE this year.

agreed...unless he's a true stud, he'll be buried under a deep depth chart.

Eifert
Welch
Koyack

But i still think we take one this year.

If BK is fixed on using 2-3 TE formations I can see them taking one every year. I can also see top talent coming to not worrying about depth because with that many on the field they won't sit for long.

I don't get the impression that Kelly wants to be running 2-3 TE sets; he may have to this season simply because that's where his talent is.

How many TE offers do we have out? Taylor and McNamara are the only studs that come to mind; now that Taylor's bumped us, McNamara is the only stud TE left on our board, no?

If we don't get him, I bet we skip on TE this year.

yes...i'd say two TE's on the field tops in running situations unless were in goalline situations...like someone said earlier, though, if we continue to develop the TE's we have on campus the elite TE's each year are going to continue to flock to us.

They offered

Sean Price - 3 star right behind McNamara in Scout
Justin Meredith - 3 star below both on Scout

Id say we sit best right now with McNamara.

Also, according to ISD and Rivals, he didn't eliminate anyone in his top 5. He just named a top 3. He is still considering ND at this point. Florida also just picked up another TE of their own in Colin Thompson. Florida State signed the #1 TE prospect from a year ago so the depth arguement is a tough one to make at this point.

I agree with you there. Florida-Thompson....Florida St.-O'leary from last year...ND-Koyack from last year. Penn State surprised me with whatever JoePa's situation will be. If he decides to take visits outside of his Top 3 and gives ND a look I think we will still have a legit chance like you said.

Off-topic: biggest neck was Mike McCoy. Protests by opponents to NCAA cited he possibility of a transplanted Elephant head. [ My brother also said that his arm resembled an Elephant's trunk.] [Played center on his high school basketball team --- took up the entire key].

Sorry for the highjack...images of McCoy are "bigger-than-life."

Tony Alford visited his high school recently.....he said he likes the attention of all the schools coming to visit....sounds like he will milk this process no matter what.
