#1 OLB Davis to announce on Friday

another article. brings up the 40 year decision comment. I really believe he has his cards very close to chest.

I'm flopping back and forth so much. He stresses academics (Notre Dame) and the 40 year decision (how many times have we seen a Notre Dame kid mention that???)... but then again he also brags on Florida's business school and academics like crazy. Will be a long couple days haha.

“The academics are the most important thing, in terms of the me choosing a college,” he told GatorBait last week. “Business is so competitive now, that it's your degree which is important. College isn't a 4-5 year decision – it's a 40-50 year decision. It's something that's going to help me for the rest of my life.”

that has to be nd right?

I know you guys are kidding, but Diaco can't visit any players right now unless they are at school, and even then he can only say hello and that's it.

The Florida coaches, if they did visit him, visited him at the school, and if they followed the rules, only made sure that they knew he was there and said hello, and then probably spoke to his coach.

And comparing Stanford's grad rates to ND's is not that drastic - Stanford is a tougher school to get into for both students and athletes, and there grad rates are still outstanding.

100% true.

And if a kid is serious about academics he can get a damn good education at Florida too. It is just that at schools like Florida, athletes can avoid serious academics. But thumbing our noses at Stanford's athletics is off base...Notre Dame and Stanford are both schools who do not offer "basket weaving" majors for jocks.

It's also important to remember that we are always in an uphill battle with recruits like this because Florida can post a coach at every HS practice if they really wanted to. Obviously no one would go that far, but the 'constant' attention that can be shown to in state recruits can often go a long ways to making them feel wanted.

Noor Davis will be the first recruit I have ever seen use the term "40 year decision" that doesn't pick Notre Dame if he goes to Florida... so at least that gives me a little hope that he can keep the trend going.

At the same time, depending on what his life goals really are, going to a Notre Dame or USC can go a very long way towards your future in certain sectors of business. Florida and Alabama don't open a lot of doors that the other three schools on his lists do.

That, plus his family connection to USC and his roots in LA, are why I seriously think USC more of a dark horse than people realize. I won't be super shocked if he heads west.

The kid sounds incredibly savvy from these recent remarks. I have little doubt he's aware of the relative quality of the undergrad business program and alumni network at each one of these schools.

ND - 1; USC - 34; UF - 42; 'Bama - 75; Stanford doesn't offer business as a major.

Of those 5, only Stanford has an alumni network that rivals ND.

Not saying we're a lock by any means, but Noor's focus on academics, his determination to major in business, and his talk of a 40-50 year decision seem to militate strongly in ND's favor.

I'm feeling much better about Friday's announcement.

Just an FYI, Stanford doesn't offer business as a major b/c they have the number 1 post-grad business school in the country (so says a Stanford friend of mine) and the top 'business minds' in the country attend that school. At least that's what Stanford fans try and sell, and really, I don't doubt that it's true.

Wish I could feel as hopeful as you do! It would be a tremendous get, but the hometown school scares me. Also, a prominent USC mod thinks USC has real shot here...

i really think Florida is sitting good right now...he seemed to really gush about the possibility of playing close to home and in the best conference in college football. Can't say i blame him if family is that imp't to him.

time for Lynch and tuitt to make a call down to florida and tell him why they left home.

It's funny how different fan bases all react similiarly in like scenarios. After checking out most of the ND board, the prevailing feeling seems to be he will choose Florida because of the proximity to his home and family. On the Florida boards, they seem to believe that he will choose ND because of the focus on academics, and our national brand and alumni network. ND "insiders" aren't feeling great, but their Florida counterparts are feeling the same. Unless something new comes out, seems like everyone will be going in blind and hoping on Friday.

That's correct. Several of the colleges with elite business graduate programs don't offer business as an undergrad major; Stanford falls into that category. Edit: I've also heard that Stanford prefers not to take its own undergrads into its business program; so if Davis wants Stanford for business, he ought to go elsewhere for undergrad.

If Davis chooses Stanford, he'd likely have to major in economics, as it's the most business-oriented major they offer. I doubt Davis will count Stanford out on that account, but it should be one more factor in our favor.

A few posters over on II's main, not the premium site, seem to really think he'll be Irish. They wouldn't be shocked if he ended up choosing UF, however the one poster, who used to write for ISD usually has good info and he's one of the posters who said he's ours to lose. We shall see come Friday....

Getting Diaco and Martin down there will be key.

My way too in depth analysis is that Noor is an Ishaq Williams-type kid (extremely articulate and thoughtful) who will probably respond best to someone like Diaco (who is also a super-high character guy that is very cerebral). The thing that "worried" me a little was that we may have had a plan of attack that integrated Diaco more slowly since Noor was planning on waiting until taking all his visits. Hinton is a great recruiter, and I have no doubt he kept the door wide open, but I think Diaco needs to close this deal I see Hinton being a good closer with kids like maybe Grace, Darby, Calabrese, etc..

I think it's safe to assume that no one really knows for sure what Davis is going to decide on. There are arguments for both Florida and ND and at this point I will keep my fingers crossed and hope he is Irish come Friday.

Diaco and Martin are in Georgia today. But who knows maybe they will swing down and visit Noor's high school.

You're right it could happen and he decides on another college besides ND and Florida. Anything is possible and not much is being said except alot of people speculating on this, that and the other. Who knows? lol.

Man, this kid is perfect for ND! I sure would love to have him. I think he can be a quick impact for us. He could be with Manti in Manti's last year.

As long as he chooses between UF or ND I wish him the best. Hopefully he doesn't shoulder both schools and go to that toilet bowl which is USC
