SC fans always ignore:
1. They were on probation.
2. Mike Garrett was an uncooperative, arrogant *** and the NCAA believe that USC more-or-less lied to them and obstructed them during the investigation.
3. The fact that they had only one compliance person... the least of any PAC 10 school... shows they truly weren't even trying. If you've seen ND's compliance office in action you know what I'm talking about. Having one guys is basically sticking up a middle finger at the NCAA and saying "we don't care and we're not even going to try to fake it."

They gambled that the NCAA wouldn't hit them because they're "too big to fail" and lost.

This right here shows you how bad the media in general is these days... I know it's just sports media but across the board isn't much different... instead of reporting facts like these to explain to people why SC got hit so hard, these 'experts' on ESPN spew BS about how SC and Auburn are comparable and how SC got unfairly hit... then of course the public just feeds off that... jouralistic integrity is nil and void in most areas these days.

I have not heard one person on Fox Sports, ESPN or talk radio discuss how SC was repeat offenders in all this... not one... you'd think that would be the most talked about aspect when explaining this to people.

Sounds close to OSU. Hopefully they get hit at least as hard.

I'm expecting Tressel to get "stuck" with the blame by the OSU administration and OSU to cooperate with the NCAA. As such, I'm thinking 5 scholarship reduction for 2/3 years and a 1/2 year bowl ban with Tressel being gone.

It's the same except that OSU has the largest compliance office in the country I believe. Something like 9 full time employees and a couple interns. Makes it even more difficult to believe Tressel didn't know who to talk to...

Luckily, the enormous amount of talent at USC is getting wasted by Lane Kiffin, and so if we are as good as expected, we can rack up the wins like we did in the Holtz years.

Ten years ago, we had something like a 16 game lead in the series. Should be able to approach that again as long as Kiffin is at the helm in LA.

Now, with Pat Haden in charge, USC has a huge compliance dept.

Funny little story...when I took my class to USC earlier this month, we were in Heritage Hall and one of the workers in his office got him to talk to my class. Well, Haden came downstairs to talk to the kids (he's a FANTASTIC human being, Trojan or not). As he started talking to us, a compliance officer happened to be walking by upstairs. Haden noticed him and asked him, tongue in cheek, "Is it okay for me to talk to them?" The compliance officer chuckled and gave him a quick thumbs up.

The kids had no idea what he was talking about, but I laughed out loud and Haden gave me a little wink. I've seen the guy talk and he is really quick-witted. He must feel like he is talking to Homer Simpson when he's talking to Kiffy-boy...

They were on a 5 year probation from the basketball team in 2006.

Basketball proby has nothing to do with this. Only would have if the failure to monitor came up. Everything was guided at Tressel. Not athletic department. Only reason they are being considered repeat offenders is because Troy Smith took $500 while Tressel was there.
Please correct me if I am wrong but this is what I took from the findings released earlier this week by the NCAA.

The entire athletic program was on probation for 5 years.

Tressel knew who to talk to but like a lawyer he knew not to ask the question he already knew the answer to. Same with Peter Carroll.

I see Urban Meyer as the next Ohio State football coach. It's only a matter of time before Tressel resigns.
