I like OU ahead of LSU but not to the point I'd argue it post after post...

also, why do I keep hearing about this favorable schedule??? Our schedule is not that 'favorable" imo...

I feel comfortable being ranked in this area. We must prove it on the football field that we are legit and if we can dominate on the field, then the rankings will come afterwards. I think this team will be much better than last year and I see us winning a couple more games this year as well.

#17 is reasonable and a good jumping spot. I like this... seems like an accurate ranking :)

I'm confused. Isn't this the exact same ranking ESPN had for us? So then why do you like this ranking better? We still have the same opponents to beat.

I like LSU at #1 and where we are at. Our schedule is pretty favorable. We should be able to beat most any team on it.

Yup, we should be right about at 17. People saying we should start in te top 5 are way off. We have a lot of returning starters and a decently easy schedule, but we have a lot of questions going in. Happy at the 15-20 range that we should start at most polls.

Good gosh. Who in the world is Athlon, you know?

Screw them.

We don't deserve a top 5 or top 10 ranking until the last few weeks of the season. By then, we'll have earned it if we got it.

I don't know who said that. People at Athlon seemed to think the 6-10 ranges was good... maybe a little favorable. I know the only point I ever pressed was a silly discussion over "talent" versus USC.

Frankly speaking, there is not one team from #9 on downward that I think is "better" than us but I am also totally happy with a spot ~#17. Every team beyond Ohio State has some very serious flaws (Notre Dame included).

I do think it is pretty funny that Georgia is nowhere on anyone's radar. They will be a better team than Auburn this year... I will bet any amount of money on that.

Good god.

My turn:Notre Dame will have a better record than New Mexico State at the end of the season.

I will bet any amount of money on that too.

Also, tonight, by dark the sun will no longer be visible.

Georgia may be considered right there with Bama, and LSU by season's end. We'll be looking at point differential to decide who's who.

Auburn won't crack the top 25 by season's end: sCam Newton and the boys are gone. Back to SEC mediocrity they go.

LSU vs. Georgia for the division is my guess.

I hate LSU. I hope we beat their *** in the Sugar Bowl.

as long as LSU keeps any other SEC team out of the title game I'm happy... if they fail to make it also I'm even happier

Just a question, how can you be so quick to put Georgia on the same level as LSU or Alabama after going 6-7 last year and losing their most dynamic player? Their recruiting class was solid but if you look through Richt's tenure at the university, he has always been able to recruit well and still manage to somewhat underachieve. They had an offensive lineman go down this spring for the year and that's a position of concern. Just my opinion, but the SEC east is as wide open this year as it has been in awhile. Florida is going through transition and Stephen Garcia can't stay sober. They're are questions everywhere. Georgia may very well win the East but to compare them to the elite teams in the SEC west is a stretch in my humble opinion.

I do agree with you about Auburn taking about 10 steps back this season. I have them fifth and maybe falling as far as sixth in the west depending on Mississippi State's ability to take further positive strides.

I was in no way calling you out on your opinion. Just wanting to know why you think Georgia will take that kind of leap forward?

My top 5:

1. Oklahoma
2. LSU
3. Alabama
4. Florida State
5. Oregon

I made a fearless prediction. That's how. Brown and King will fill Green's void. An efficient running game will increase playaction pass success, with a decent backfield. The QB, Murray, will be much improved. Their tightend, Charles, will be on par with competing as one of the best in the country and he will create mismatches with LBs. We know how that goes...

Even without their halfback and Green, the O line should be solid enough to compete.

Richt is a good coach.

So now: That's my logic.

Killz is right, Georga will be better that Auburn. Also LSU ran on dead luck last year. I don't see that happening two years in a row. They finish out of the top 5...

So I don't get it... you agree with me that Georgia is underrated and that Auburn is way overrated...? Confused with the BS post then. Whatever.

I don't put them on the LSU/Bama level but they should beat Boise State to start the season and be very good football team.

Well congradulations on your fearless prediction. Bold. But Im confused as to why you think an offensive line that got no push last year against lines as small as Central Florida and Tennessee, will all of a sudden start competing against the SEC's elite? Just a gut feeling?

Brown and King did little to nothing to fill the void of AJ Green last year. Why does that change? Gut feeling?

I agree with you about Aaron Murray improving.

The LB's in the SEC are far better than any LB core we face so I'm not sure we know "how that goes."

I hope that is the case so the Boise talk ends early. Va Tech blew that last year and we had to listen to it for three months. I think Georgia beats Boise as well.

Also, it's REALLY funny that Penn State is ranked but Texas and Florida are not. I will be shocked if PSU wins 9 games this year... but I will be even more shocked if Texas doesn't win 9.

Irish Man 3:

Age, maturity (semi-synonymous), chemistry involves my offensive line prediction. BTW, the same can be said of the receviing corps. I still believe their offensive success will revolve around their run-first philosophy.

I meant no offense. If you have one, take it up with the Gods of IE.

I am only their titan. I'm glad you're back to posting. However, you asked my dissertation. I knew you wouldn't be happy without one, so you got it pal.

LAX:

I wasn't BS'ing. Most others know Auburn is bunk. I elaborated on your post. I didn't take away from it. Our goal is the same. Auburn will not contend.

What continues to interest me on these emerging polls is not specific numbers but the fact that it is becoming consistent for these guys to rate Stanford ahead of us, MSU essentially even with us, and USC a little behind us, and no one else on our schedule in sight. This would mean that they would expect us to win against the nine unmentioned teams, lose to Stanford, and maybe split with MSU/USC. [or even win both]. That would translate into a 10-2 or 11-1 regular season record.

People gripe about many of our local posters drinking too much Green KoolAid. But it seems to me that a lot of guys who are at least semi-expert at evaluating teams are drinking the same stuff. Let's hope that all of us so inclined are seeing the overall depth and power of this veteran team accurately. If QB was settled I'd be already drunk with the stuff.

I agree with you but it has certainly been awhile since we beat all the teams we were more talented than and "should beat."

IM3: yep. But it has also been a long time since we had a comparable coaching situation to Coach Kelly in his second year with guys who actually know the systems [and Diaco and Longo...and etc etc etc].
